  1. The problem is that the team that made the trade really didn't have enough starting pitching, and by trading Sale they had less. They only signed Giolito, Giolito got injured and they didn't replace him. It's not so much that trading Sale is a head-scratcher, it was their overall approach to the starting pitching depth and lack thereof that's a head-scratcher.
  2. Clearly Denny means 2025 and beyond, as did I.
  3. Not sure this has any relevance. The ghost runner does achieve the purposes of reducing game times and decreasing the total innings that pitchers throw. Without reducing the number of games or ticket revenues. So it's a win-win except for purists.
  4. Seems like the kind of thing you would want to do in the offseason rather than right now, though, if you care about what happens this year. Abreu has been one of our better bats, after all.
  5. I think you're right. Not sure that's a big difference-maker though. Would be interesting to see what the results have been, small sample though it would be.
  6. I don't blame you. I don't like it but I understand it from one perspective - pitchers are getting injured enough as it is.
  7. I think all any of us really care about is the last wildcard spot. It's pretty much as good as the first wildcard spot.
  8. Yeah, I think scoring 1 run with the ghost runner is basically average at best. You need to score at least 2. Even that may not do it as we have seen. There are going to be a lot of runs scored in these Manfred innings, one reason being that teams are often down to their crappier relievers.
  9. I agree. Abreu seems like a guy you could get something for, and he's not really a great long-term fit as a lefty hitting outfielder.
  10. True confessions time: I don't watch much game action any more, and when I do watch it's when the Sox are at bat, or one of our pitchers is really dealing LOL. My blood pressure is already way too high and my nerves aren't the best either. I have MLB.tv but I'm usually following on GameDay while I do other internet things. OTOH I rarely wake up in the morning without knowing the score of yesterday's Sox game.
  11. Maybe they're BLOOMING.
  12. Sounds like we're back in the business of Interest Kings!
  13. Maybe Cora likes to have one of each hand...
  14. Yes, and like those guys at the bar, they make less and less sense as the game progresses and the booze flows...
  15. Why don't you go f*** yourself, DAFFY DUCK, you brain-dead TROLL?
  16. Horn hasn't pitched since July 5, when he tossed 2.2 scoreless against the Yanks. Not sure why a Sox reporter doesn't just straight out ask Cora why the f*** Horn hasn't pitched since July 5. I think Cora would get a chuckle out of that and would give an honest answer.
  17. That was mostly what should be called "game threader" bashing LOL
  18. The outlook in 2019 didn't look that bleak to me until Henry decided to prove otherwise...
  19. His very best move does look like Andrew Bailey.
  20. Can't forget about Hendriks. How's he doing?
  21. Proven late inning relievers actually tend to be pretty costly.
  22. To be totally blunt and data-based about it, it's not for sure that this team is better than either the 2019 team or the 2021 team. It's all about how we finish.
  23. Who's not giving him a chance?
  24. It's OK, we're here to pick you up, by pointing out every mistake.
  25. The real problem is he has basically sucked in June and July after being brilliant prior to that.
