My bet is we're not selling anything of value. This team has had more than enough PR f***ups and mixed messages. They don't need Pivetta dealing for another team the next two months while Houck has to go on the IL. We'll check back on my "wisdom" at 6 PM.

Craig can't do that, not at this point. He'd look worse than Bloom did the last two years, because it would be a flip-flop on what he's been saying and reportedly trying to do, which is add pitching.

Not that many big name RP'ers have been moved so far. Jason Adam got a large return, but he's got a few years of control left so that has to be factored. -

I think it would have made more sense to prioritize the rotation, and if they were going to upgrade second base for 2024, do it another way. The "long term solution to second base" part is odd, too, because next year we'll have Story, Mayer, and others in contention for MIF spots.

Dombrowski might be the best pure talent evaluator in the game. He does need some money behind him to make things work. He and the Phillies owner seem to be a match made in baseball high roller heaven.

No, not necessarily, only if you're getting enough back to make it worth it. And as we're seeing, there's risk of it being a bad move even if you do get something back.

Regardless of how anyone felt at the time, we're not the CBO, and the fact is that the CBO's moves are judged pretty heavily on results. DD's extension of Sale would be a prime example of that. Hell, DD has taken an enormous amount of flak for Price, even though Price was instrumental in winning a ring. It's a tough job these guys have, making guesses that can have hundreds of millions attached to them...
