  1. The hitters definitely adjusted, you can take that much to the bank. In retrospect it was kind of funny how heavily publicized Bailey's approach was early in the year. Much detail was given.
  2. That's a whole pile more money. Size matters. The Braves are only at risk for $21 million with Sale. That's about 1/6 of the deGrom number.
  3. Yes, I agree. But a lot of people are offended by that kind of profanity too. And no one seems to give a s*** about that any more. It's just an observation.
  4. What strikes me as a little weird or amusing or ironic or whatever is that everyone seemed to think the "f*** 'em" stuff with Duran was just swell. And of course there was Big Papi's famous use of profanity in 2013. It's like we're desensitized to some things now, but hypersensitive to others.
  5. Yes, him and Houck. And before this incident, everyone loved Houck and Duran this year and thought they were wonderful examples of players blossoming after working their asses off.
  6. As they say, there's a first time for everything...
  7. Well, it sure seemed like you were questioning the ability part by suggesting he had no games like last night since 2019.
  8. Red did mention Duran calling a fan a "bitch" a few times here. You saw that right?
  9. Sale's Game Score last night was 83, his best of the season. He did have an 80 last year. He had a 3 game stretch in 2023 where he pitched 21 innings with 27 K's and 3 BB's. The flashes of dominance were still there. Otherwise the Braves would likely not have been interested.
  10. It's one thing to be negative, but can you at least wait until it happens?
  11. If I was Duran's lawyer I would argue that was a vague question. Maybe "About what, specifically?" would be a better response.
  12. It does seem like the Sox specialize in bizarreness.
  13. "Very possible" - yikes! Nobody knows what would have happened in a do-over. I do agree though that Millar and Mueller should get just about as much credit. That was a team run.
  14. The Pedro trade was mammoth not just for 2004. Pedro gave a huge jolt of energy to the franchise and he was one of the guys they built a championship team around.
  15. It was very close, and a very clutch call by the ump. 2004 saw the umps finally pay back the Sox for Ed Armbrister LOL
  16. That's some serious in-depth analysis of his performance!
  17. Things are more hopeful, but there's still room for a lot of angst about the pitching. They still haven't shown they're prepared to do anything big about it. And they keep making blunders with the moves they do make.
  18. Yes. And we had such high hopes for Breslow and Bailey being the guys to fix it.
  19. I picked them to win 80. That still seems realistic. The pitching is a shambles. I hate it, but that's the way it is.
  20. What isn't bad luck is thinking a rotation of Houck, Crawford, Bello, Giolito and Pivetta + Whitlock is going to get the job done. What isn't bad luck is not doing anything about it when Giolito and Whitlock go down.
  21. Just like that, the Sox are 7th worst in runs allowed per game in MLB.
  22. With Paxton likely gone and Sims and Garcia pitching like crap, Brez must be feeling a little snakebit right now.
  23. The Royals do have a run differential of +96, +43 vs. CHW and +53 vs. other teams.
  24. They did make 2 choices - Sale out, Giolito in.
  25. There's been a general neglect of the rotation ever since they hired Bloom. This was Year 5 of it.
