  1. Right. Hopefully the Sox are looking at him.
  2. Fantastic performance by Bello, and at a critical time. Hopefully a sign of things to come.
  3. Maybe I'm a Pollyanna for injured guys, but I think Story can rebound, and he's absolutely a fit for this team's needs. He's a superior defender, especially compared to our other infielders (LOL). And he's a right-handed bat with power. As to the injuries, that's a whole other can of worms. But it seems to me he's had some s***** luck.
  4. I'm assuming it would be a Sale-like trade where they would have to eat a chunk.
  5. Was her father always there when the two were together? Why are you placing any reliance on that? Isn't that hearsay too? Parents tend to want to give the benefit of the doubt to their children.
  6. In a way I have to love a guy who's up there swinging all the time.
  7. I do NOT think they should trade him. It would be kind of like tempting the baseball gods one more time, after what happened with Sale.
  8. Andrew Bailey - AKA "the Tweakster". 😉
  9. I get what you're saying too.
  10. He has to take more walks. It's remarkable he's been able to post .689 with his Middlebrooks-on-steroids K to BB ratio.
  11. I think the Mindy McCready story has to be part of any evaluation of Clemens as a human being. Just like if we're talking about Cora as a person we can't leave out the cheating part.
  12. Rafaela is staying around the .700 mark for the season. Isn't that basically what we hoped for from him? They just have to somehow persuade him that taking a walk isn't evil.
  13. Agreed on all points. But Henry and the front office have clearly demonstrated over the last 5 years that they don't care much about what we expect. Henry took it to the next level by criticizing, even mocking our expectations.
  14. Based on the plausible theory that if Clemens was with her, he was probably WITH her. If his intentions were pure he would have stayed far away from her at that age. Plus of course the fact that he's an inveterate liar.
  15. It took a while, but the subject matter of this thread has finally been corrupted in true Talksox fashion! 😃
  16. After pitching great up until July, Burnes just had a horrible August. Have to see if he turns it around in September.
  17. Estimated current franchise market values per Forbes: Dodgers 4.8 billion Red Sox 4.5 billion Yes, the Dodgers are very rich, but the Red Sox ain't exactly struggling.
  18. Those who do not learn from history are condemned to repeat it, Mr. Henry.
  19. If you lose a game 19-18, and 2 of the runs you gave up were unearned, whose fault was the loss? These things are never that simple!
  20. Based on what? He was second in MVP voting last year. Whaddya want?
  21. Errors: Red Sox 98 Historically bad White Sox 80 MLB average 70 Unearned runs allowed Red Sox 85 Historically bad White Sox 61 MLB average 49
  22. Fielding % is not a valuable stat on its own, but it's not totally useless. The Red Sox have the most errors in MLB, the worst fielding percentage, and by far the most unearned runs allowed. A lot of fielding misplays do occur on balls hit right at the fielder or on bad throws, right? Those have nothing to do with range. Of course the fact that fielding % doesn't take any range factors into account means that other numbers have to be looked at as well.
  23. My guess would be that making fun of appearances gets a pass unless another poster or posters register a legit objection to it. It's never really been an issue here.
  24. JP Sears could be on the show too.
