The only real point is, even a diminished and half-healthy Sale was better than the other crap we have!
I hated the Giolito signing too, as you know. I said I'd puke if they did it.
Hard to say. Also hard to say whether Henry even cares what the fans think any more. He told us we all suffer from unrealistic expectations.
At this point it sure looks like the only things that matter to Henry are the operating profit and the franchise value.
Imanaga is a clear-cut case of how stupid the Sox have become about signing pitchers. The Cubs got him for an EXTREMELY reasonable 4/53 guarantee. The Sox were reportedly very interested but would not go past 2 guaranteed years. It's kind of mind-boggling at this point.
KC does have a brutal schedule.
From Aug 23 to Sept 4 they play 14 games in 13 days - 7 vs Cle, 4 vs Hou, 3 vs Phil.
Their pitching is in much better shape than ours, however.
In retrospect, we had yet another incredibly useless offseason with our rotation. Some of it was bad luck, but the cold fact is that Breslow's moves only made it worse.
After the great start, we're now 5th worst in MLB in runs allowed per game! Better only than the Rockies, White Sox, Marlins and Angels.
It's almost funny. Almost.
His defense has been pretty damn good when he's played, no? Plus he seemed to be going the extra mile in the offseason with his camps or whatever he was doing.
I've always been a Sale Pollyanna through all the injuries. I stayed a Pollyanna because I thought his ability was still largely intact and his attitude seemed solid.
I feel the same about Story now. I don't want him traded either.
