  1. Yes, Fred overDrew his account on that topic.
  2. Or as I like to think of them, the $200 million patchwork team.
  3. Boras's main target at the moment seems to be the Jays, for Drew and Morales. In an interview he pretty much told the Jays how to run their club - even pointing out that if they signed Morales, Adam Lind could be trading for pitching. The guy is too much.
  4. The Yankees entire approach to this offseason seems a little slapdash to me.
  5. The .800 OPS prediction for Teixeira is shaky at best. Yes he posted .807 in 2012, but that was his 4th straight year of steady decline. Then he missed almost the entire season last year and indications are that his health is still somewhat in question.
  6. With your psychology, why make them at all?
  7. Kool Aid is flowing in both Sox and Yankee camps. We're defending champs and you guys signed some elite talent. The reality is both teams have plenty of X factors.
  8. And you didn't even mention Tex and Jeter's 'questionable', to put it kindly, durability status.
  9. Some of the New York writers like Joel Sherman think the Yankees have some serious potential weaknesses, especially the infield. Teixeira's health is still a question mark. So is Jeter's, I would think. If Teixeira and Jeter are not at least decent this year, the infield could be awful. Potential huge upsides for the Yanks are Sabathia, Tanaka and possibly even Pineda from the sounds of it. If those guys come out hot, maybe Hal will be persuaded to spend even more money if he has to.
  10. No, it was him, guaranteed. Fred will say the same.
  11. No, pinstripezac isn't Dutchy. I know pinstripezac from other forums.
  12. Agreed. If we did sign Drew though, I expect he'd get a lot more starts than the average bench player. Anyway, the Sox are staying on message about this so far...that they're prepared to go with XB and WMB. Drew's going to sign somewhere soon, I think. Boras is playing it out to the bitter end.
  13. Maybe, maybe not. Dempster was basically a depth signing last year.
  14. Stop worrying about Drew, Fred. He'll be in pinstripes before you know it.
  15. Yes, and if someone else signs Drew and the Bogey-WMB tandem gets off to a bad start, we'll see how the voting goes then. Fans are fickle.
  16. Yeah, that would be bizarre. Latest on the Yankees is that Hal said the wallet is closed after signing Tanaka.
  17. Cher and Farr...I like it.
  18. Yeah, too bad about that injury Boone suffered and what happened when they replaced him.
  19. Dempster helped with that, no doubt. But I have to think Farrell and Nieves deserve a lot of the credit too, as well as the rededicated Lackey. It was a confluence (right YOTN?)
  20. I don't think so. Ellsbury's contract was 155 million, Dempster gave them back 13 million. Still 142 million to go.
  21. zac, sometimes your references are too obscure even for me.
  22. Oh jeez not the year 2000 thing again. There is no universal agreement on which is the correct answer to this, because nobody really knows if there was a 'Year 0' or not.
  23. That could also be very embarrassing to him. I'm not really jumping to conclusions - I'm suggesting that we're in no position to judge exactly what is motivating him in this decision.
  24. f*** Dodger castoffs.
  25. With the stuff going on his personal life, I suspect Dempster is experiencing depression or something similar. Pretty hard to function properly in that condition.
