  1. I fully expect Ellsbury to have a kick-ass season next year. That first season with a new team guys can be really jacked to show what they've got. After that is when it will start to get interesting.
  2. An .830 OPS is not empty power. You can't maintain an .830 OPS without being a well-above-average offensive producer.
  3. Maybe it's just me, but the option year in a deal like this seems so irrelevant. Whether your projections for Ellsbury are on the positive or negative side, it's hard to imagine him kicking ass all the way into the year 2021.
  4. The Yankees are guaranteeing Ells only 15 million less than their rumored 168 million offer to Cano.
  5. He seems to be awfully excited about a well-thought-out 2019 vesting option LOL
  6. s***, they must be assuming they don't have to pay A-Rod this year. Nice of them to announce it LOL
  7. Latest rumors say the Mariners may be willing to give Cano 8 years and 200 million.
  8. Your 'Magnificent Salty Bastard' was one of my favorite lines of the year.
  9. Roughly 24 million.
  10. Except that Pierzynski has been super durable.
  11. My sentiments exactly.
  12. It is, sadly, another Blass-type situation.
  13. Ben knows what he's doing IMO.
  14. If Salty was willing to return on a 1 or 2 year deal for 6 million per or something like that, I think the Sox would do that.
  15. Cano can thank his infield mates A-Rod and Tex for the lessons they have taught the Yankees in mega-contracts.
  16. Damn, Fister also had a postseason ERA of 2.98 with the Tigers-in 48.1 innings. Good numbers to send packing.
  17. Oh well, where there's Scott Kazmir there's hope.
  18. Ortiz's big home run years were at age 28, 29, 30. His HR production tapered off at age 31 and hasn't returned to those high levels.
  19. Ortiz's big slump year was 2009, and he still ended up with 28 HR and a .462 SLG.
  20. Guess away. You still just have the one fact.
  21. I'd say even better than mid-rotation. Fister had an ERA+ of 128 with Detroit. That's at least a #2 on most teams.
  22. That's true, but Jose comes out as a loser regardless. While 'Vindicated', he was ultimately seen as a self-centred prick who ratted out people for money, and was still the consummate juice-enhanced cartoon baseball player. Then he continued to show he was a loser with his messed-up 'career' and personal life.
  23. Wha...what?
  24. It's only early, but the Atlantic Division looks like it might be a contender for the worst division in pro sports history. It's not too often that a 6-10 record will get you first place in a 5-team division.
