  1. I know what you're saying. But we're talking about a team that got shut out the previous two games benching the guy with the highest OBP on the team for a doubleheader. You're right that it didn't matter much. That just shows what a clusterf*** it's become.
  2. I'm now of the belief that Farrell's brain is completely fried.
  3. Yeah this is beyond f***ed-up now. Farrell has officially melted down.
  4. So Hamels has had 2 horrific starts in a row, and Cueto looked today like there might be something wrong with his arm.
  5. Of course he's concerned about his financial status for next year. That's only normal human behavior. I don't see anything to hate on Buchholz about this year. He pitched very well, he was going deep in games, then he injured his elbow.
  6. Buchholz is a flake, no question. But for a 30-year old pitcher with no 2016 contract, being concerned about the health of his pitching elbow doesn't really make him a wimp.
  7. Anybody But the Yankees.
  8. Looks like it's just about time to pull out the ABY cap.
  9. As User Name has pointed out a few times, this is what bad teams do - you lose 8-6 one game, 1-0 the next game. That we managed to do it with the same guy on the mound just adds a little extra twist with the knife.
  10. This will be Miley's 4th start in our last 10 games. When you have a stud hoss you have to ride them.
  11. The Yanks bullpen has been a big part of their success, I think.
  12. Very doubtful. And it would only be a pitcher who is under control beyond this year.
  13. I'm very glad that I'm a golf fan along with being a Sox fan. There's always something going on in golf and hardly any of it causes me any pain.
  14. Besides Spieth and Johnson, other guys I liked going into this - most are obvious. Rickie Fowler Henrik Stenson Justin Rose Louis Oosthuizen (won here in 2010) Paul Casey (runner-up here in 2010) Luke Donald - dark horse pick
  15. There's going to be some wild weather for this one. You can't bet against Spieth right now. Nice to see Dustin Johnson get off to a good start too.
  16. One of the guiding principles of AAV calculations seems to be that only the money that is guaranteed to the player at the outset of the contract is counted. With Buchholz's options there are buyout amounts that the club has to pay if they decline the options - those are the only amounts Buchholz is guaranteed to receive, and they are factored into the AAV amounts.
  17. Right - Buch's is a team option so it's a standalone.
  18. If his option is picked up he would count as $13 million for 2016. The option year is treated as a standalone 1 year contract.
  19. Buchholz's option isn't counted. Only guaranteed money counts for luxury tax purposes.
  20. There are a lot of unexplainable things in baseball. One is how much a pitcher's performance can change going from one league or environment to another. Look at how bad A. J. Burnett's numbers were when he was with the Yankees, and how good they are in the National League. Then there's a guy like Javier Vazquez, who had great numbers with more than one NL team and terrible numbers with more than one AL team.
  21. I agree. You can't blame men for being obsessed with the beauty of the female form, though.
  22. Trade Nap and Vic even if they have to pay 90% of what's left of their salaries. Get ready to play a lot of kids, including Castillo, the rest of the way. Don't trade Koji.
