  1. This is the Rays though. Even if he starts cold they could keep him around for a longer look, with the expanded rosters in September, and the distinct possibility of them dropping out of it. If he shows any signs of life they might have a place for him next year because he'll still cost very little. If you're the Rays you need some bargain players.
  2. If the Sox decline Buch's $13 million option they only have to pay him $245K and he's a free agent. Not sure what that has to do with coming up with $200 million or more for Cueto though.
  3. No my good man, he is signed for 2016. And there will be a 2016 season, believe it or not. And there's no rule saying you have to ship out every guy who has proven he can actually pitch, even if Ben tries to give us that impression.
  4. Sure we will. Now may I direct you to this website where you can buy loads of 2015 Sox merchandise, and every $50 spent gives you one entry in a draw for a Green Monster Seat at a 2016 game.
  5. I'm only following on Gameday. Why did Girardi leave Shreve in there for a 30-pitch inning that could have been insurance runs?
  6. Craig will remain in AAA unless he really catches fire. The reason being, they somehow got him off the 40-man roster and therefore his salary doesn't count for luxury tax purposes unless they put him back on it. You can't make this s*** up.
  7. By getting rid of Craig, St. Louis got a nice little salary dump out of the deal. Just a terrible transaction. Should have just asked for a prospect back.
  8. To put it kindly.
  9. Hanley Ramirez has 8 doubles. 8! How is this even possible.
  10. One guy we did develop was Alex Wilson. So naturally we toss him in on the Porcello trade, and this year he's got a 1.76 ERA and a .94 WHIP in 56.1 innings for the Tigers.
  11. No one can disagree. We can't even develop middle relievers. And you know where Robbie Ross came from, right? We traded Ranaudo for him.
  12. Probably just a shade over the Mendoza line.
  13. The bullpen after Koji and Tazawa continues to be horrible.
  14. Fielder has an 897 OPS and is leading the majors in hits right now so it's kind of a funny time to knock that signing.
  15. Dombrowski is out as Tigers GM.
  16. Alex Wilson is having a nice season too...
  17. The advanced metrics say Porcello was just about as good in 2013 as he was in 2014. I don't want to open up this Porcello thing all over again. I would much rather have Lester, trust me.
  18. Watched the White Sox beat the Yanks with White Sox announcers. Hawk Harrelson really is unbelievable.
  19. This is the old 20/20 hindsight deal though. Because how many times have we also said how dumb it was for the Sox not to lock Lester up for 6/120 or thereabouts when they had the chance. Porcello is making it look dumb though, that's for sure.
  20. I have often thought we need a thread devoted to the biggest, fattest pitchers in baseball history. I was just about thinking about this huge guy who pitched for the Cardinals a few years ago. I think his name was Ray King. Guy was a monster. As was Bobby Jenks.
  21. Just in: Larry is stepping down.
  22. I have to say it was pretty cool to see the reaction to Napoli's home run last night. Naps and Ortiz were as happy as little kids, even after all the misery this year.
  23. I gave up on this season a while ago. But that doesn't mean I don't hope for them to win every time they play. I do. I think everybody here does that, no matter how negative their evaluations of the team are.
