  1. There's definitely some confirmation bias. Once you've become convinced that Farrell is incompetent, you will tend to find incompetency in everything he does. I've been subject to it myself lately.
  2. Well, strictly for funsies... Through 132 PA's Leon is 383/423/617 In 2013, in his first 159 PA's Jose Iglesias was 410/459/528. After that was when Iggy started his regression.
  3. Francona ranks pretty high if you ask me. 2 rings with the Sox and a MOY with Cleveland. His record in Cleveland is validating his record in Boston.
  4. It might seem that way, but his OPS+ is virtually identical to what it was in 2012, 2013 and 2015.
  5. Actually the main complaint was that he left Price in too long in the 8th, not that he started the 8th.
  6. For Price to be a stopper he has to pitch a 2-hit shutout on 95 pitches and stop Farrell from having to think.
  7. Here's the classic quote from George Steinbrenner when the Yankees got A-Rod: "We understand John Henry must be embarrassed, frustrated, and disappointed by his failure in this transaction. Unlike the Yankees, he chose not to go the extra distance for his fans in Boston."
  8. I can't wait to see what my sig line is.
  9. This team is cooked for the simple reason that the bullpen is a disaster. I see no signs of hope for that changing.
  10. Yeah, the team just seemed to be playing a better brand of ball under Lovullo, but it might have had little to do with him.
  11. We don't really know what it would do for the team. They did play better last year when JF left. That might have been a coincidence or it might not. Right now the team looks like a sad sack of s***.
  12. Not to crap on your thread, Dewey, but there are only a few, they're obvious, and you listed them. I actually thought the beaning by Dempster was a really dumb play. It happened early in the game, Dempster pitched like crap and the Yanks came back and won the game.
  13. Jeez, I was obviously talking about Price.
  14. We supposedly did get a 'true ace' though, remember...how's that workin' out. The good news is we didn't trade the farm for Sonny Gray, at least...
  15. I'd hope Farrell's reasons were a little more, but maybe that was it...
  16. Yeah, that's the exact question I posed in the Pitching Staff thread.
  17. I get that, but I'm not sure it makes any sense putting Wright out there if he's not much more likely than Ortiz to score on a single and certainly more likely to screw something up.
  18. Seriously, what was gained by bringing in a guy who has never been on base in a real MLB game, and, I am guessing, is not an especially athletic runner?
  19. Here's a thought: When your #1 option to run for Ortiz is Steven Wright, maybe you should just let Ortiz run for himself?
  20. Not necessarily.
  21. Who does-JBJ...Mookie?
  22. Nothing wrong with high expectations. It's a shame so many of these players can't seem to live up to 'em...
  23. From Pete Abraham's article on last night's game: The Sox have 50 games remaining and Lovullo could soon be managing again if the Sox cannot break out of what has been several weeks of desultory play.
  24. I don't have a deep understanding of BABIP. About all I know is that the overall average in MLB is somewhere around .300 and that .350 is huge. So when a guy is at .440 it's way unsustainable and the law of averages shall smite him down.
