  1. Did Jones actually say this?
  2. I follow lots of other sports with interest, but nothing comes remotely close to my obsession with the Sox. I can't even explain why that is.
  3. First somebody has to explain why the Guardians would even be motivated to trade Kluber.
  4. I don't think I have any problem with his statement.
  5. Could have everything to do with Pomeranz. Pomeranz has a 5.95 ERA pitching to Leon. He has a 2.90 with Holoday. Most of his starts have been caught by Holoday. He pitched to Hanigan once and had a good start with ERA in 6 IP.
  6. I think the Guardians would want JBJ plus something else very attractive for Kluber.
  7. He's been doing a tremendous Manny impression.
  8. I'd call it an excellent season with one red hot month and one bad month. Apr .807 May 1.175 Jun .805 Jul .839 Aug .651 Sep .783
  9. Pomeranz Needs no rain dance.
  10. I'm not saying I wouldn't trade JBJ for Kluber...just saying he's having an excellent all-around season.
  11. He's got an .850 OPS. That's great, streaky or not. Hanley has been streaky too...it's just that his hot streak has been lately.
  12. 'A streaky bat' is rather disrespectful to Bradley, no? He's got a 4.9 bWAR...he's a fairly competent defender.
  13. In the old days what made matters worse was that the Sox had offenses that were tailored for Fenway - mashers without much speed.
  14. There aren't many pitchers who can inspire the kind of see-saw reaction that Buch does.
  15. Winning 16-2 then losing 2-1 is frustrating but it's mostly positive - you just got 2 very well-pitched games in a row. Winning 16-2 then losing 10-9 is much worse.
  16. I'm pretty sure the same person didn't make both of those statements.
  17. In most cases, yes, but I'm not sure that applies to a Pythagorean variance.
  18. Yeah, the Jays announcers said early that the wind was blowing out hard today.
  19. Wins are all pretty to me now.
  20. I agree with mvp on this. They aren't going to exercise the option and then trade him. That's the kind of thing armchair GM's love to talk about but hardly ever happens in reality.
  21. I tried it a few times when I was a kid. You're right, if you flip 100 times the odds are actually against it coming out 50-50. But it will hover quite closely around 50% if you flip it 100 times or more - that's guaranteed.
  22. Pythagoras says we are the best team in the league. That'll be small consolation if we miss the playoffs. (See you over in the Lineup Discussions thread.)
  23. Red Sox Night games .826 OPS Day games .800 AL overall Night games .753 OPS Day games .739 OPS So we have just a little bit more of a dropoff in day games than the league in general.
  24. Both statements are just guesses without any statistical breakdown and comparisons to other teams.
  25. Now that's utter nonsense.
