  1. Here's where I disagree: I don't think anyone-not on this forum at least-has touted DD as a genius. He's been praised for certain moves and he's taken some heat for certain moves or non-moves.
  2. I like Mookie up at the plate as much as possible. Somehow I don't see that as a very newfangled idea!
  3. Sure was nice seeing Mookie come up in the 11th with a runner at first and one out instead of him not coming up until 3 batters later...and possibly not coming up at all.
  4. And just like that Betts is a top 2 OBP guy!
  5. That particular answer by Cameron was kind of weak. Saying that DD hasn't done anything that Ben couldn't have done is actually kind of silly. Of course Ben *could have* done all the things DD has done if he was still here. We're talking about baseball transactions, not athletic feats. That's not really the point.
  6. We might have some of our own injury issues before it's all said and done. That's always the great unknown.
  7. Take a look at the Cubs bullpen after Chapman last year and see how ours compares.
  8. Well, keep in mind I'm looking at this from the vantage point of a Sox fan whose team has championship aspirations. I think our chances of beating the Yankees for the division this year are better because you guys don't have Miller, and I think most Sox fans would agree if you put that question to them.
  9. Holy crap...I like that line too but...it's a good thing Kimmi has a sense of humor...
  10. Heck, I wouldn't worry about that at all.
  11. Maybe the issue with Devers is mainly about his defense not being ready?
  12. Yes, absolutely, I'm just throwing it out there. If he really is unhappy in Boston, 4 more years is a long time.
  13. With Price there appears to be a possibility he opts out for non-financial reasons.
  14. My theory is that the team has their own good reasons for how they set the lineup based on statistical review and knowledge of the players that goes far beyond what anyone has here.
  15. I keep trying to make that point.
  16. What's really nice is that Kimbrel, Barnes and Kelly all got 2 days off in a row.
  17. Incorrect, he had a 0.2 bWAR entering today. And it will go up today.
  18. Might look silly but the Jays wear red for Canada Day weekend.
  19. The Yankees would have been better off if Sabathia exercised his opt out and signed elsewhere - agree or disagree?
  20. Mookie is producing runs though. Driving them is important, scoring them is important too. He does it all.
  21. You're backing your opinion up with NOTHING.
  22. There's one very compelling reason to have Mookie up first. It maximizes his plate appearances. How many plate appearances will you take away by moving him from first to fourth? The only other legitimate candidate for leadoff is Bogaerts. And you probably wouldn't bet a lot that he'll have a higher OBP than Mookie the rest of the way. Pedroia leads in OBP but his baserunning is horrible.
  23. Yeah, they might move him. If they do they'll have their reasons. They have all the same numbers as we do and I'm quite sure they study them in more depth than we do. I just think people should relax and stop moaning and groaning when it comes to the lineup.
  24. He's a few points out of being 2nd in OBP now. You're making a mountain out of a molehill.
