    There are still issues with the defensive measurements and skepticism is understandable. But generally speaking, the new defensive measurements are very beneficial to a player like JBJ.

    And I don't disagree with that. And I'm sure you're not really intending to do this, but some of your statements leave the impression that once the game starts the manager can pretty much have a snooze.

    He probably hoped to use Kelly for 2 innings, but Kelly threw 29 pitches in the 6th.

    The baseball season is such a roller coaster, it'll drive you nuts if you let it. 27-23 isn't the worst shape to be in.

    I wouldn't count Holt out just yet. Sidney Crosby had severe concussion issues that looked like they might end his career, and look at how he's come back.

    Holy crap it looks miserable there.

    I think that in games managers don't have to be geniuses, but like I said earlier their real job is not to screw up. And in close games there will usually be an opportunity or two to screw up. And if they do screw up they will take a beating for it. So there's some pressure involved there.

    Those long AB's have really become a big deal in this day of strict pitch counts.

    More home runs, yes, but Bogaerts has more extra base hits in fewer at bats, and his SLG is 46 points higher.
