  1. I'm not sure the judgment of DD will come down to winning a ring or not. A lot of fans now seem to accept the fact that once you make the playoffs the rest is a crapshoot. If DD's Red Sox win the division 3 or 4 times that might be enough for a lot of fans even if we don't go all the way.
  2. My attitude is not that I don't care, but it's something that's so far out of my control and so full of uncertainties that I don't see the point of thinking about it very much yet. The time will come when it will be impossible to avoid thinking about it. But even then - nothing I can do. If the cliff comes so be it. We'll just have to stick it out till the next up cycle comes around.
  3. Good reaction by Archer on the HR.
  4. Mookie has an .882 career OPS at Fenway, .821 on the road. I don't think Fenway is messing him up.
  5. The empty fridge can and will be replenished...it's just a question of how long it takes.
  6. It was a good win for you. All made possible by the Milwaukee closer walking 2 guys of course. But that's baseball.
  7. Prado would be an upgrade but he's not exactly a power bat.
  8. My memories of Ken Coleman's voice and names like Sonny Siebert and Ray Culp are still so vivid that it's downright eerie.
  9. You're not going to find a lot of #5 starters with an ERA+ of 127.
  10. That's possible. What I'd like to see is some data comparing the average distance of home runs this year to previous years. We seem to be hearing about a lot more 400 foot and 450 foot shots lately. There's a site called Home Run Tracker that lists all the home runs each year, I may have to check that out.
  11. Interesting. I don't have the answer, but I think something is definitely going on with the balls, or now that you mention it the bats.
  12. I'm comfortable that Dombrowski is devoting a lot of thought to the 3B situation and will act wisely.
  13. Love to know why JBJ didn't pinch hit for Young there.
  14. It's the dreaded OhNofense so far.
  15. Ain't it the truth.
  16. Frazier has a good-looking stroke.
  17. No one can dispute that it was a bad move financially. No one does dispute it, as far as I know.
  18. It was definitely a stupid move financially. What I gathered from Dempster's comments was that his marriage was breaking down and he didn't feel like he was capable of playing in 2014. I don't see how we can judge his motives without being in his shoes.
  19. HanRam definitely seems to be heating up. He had a monster second half last year. Cross your fingers for another.
  20. We are getting busy assembling The 2021 Boston Cliff Divers LOL
  21. All good points Max. Baseball is indeed a game of enemies reacting.
  22. If we win the division, our chances of beating the Guardians or Astros are unlikely to hinge on upgrading at 3B. It'll be more about the pitching performances.
  23. I'm not really disputing your general point, but Bogaerts did well for us in the 2013 postseason, switching positions at that.
  24. I actually enjoyed a couple of games I saw on MLB Network with Bob Costas and John Smoltz.
