It's not so much the 'desperate dave' part, but Larry Cook's posts about Dombrowski being a 'pillow biter' and so on are a wee bit over the top. It brings to mind some of those old witty rejoinders like 'Hey, did the guy screw your wife or something?' -
Also, if you recall, just a few games after Bogaerts got hit in the hand, Farrell used him to pinch run (dubiously perhaps) and Bogaerts aggravated the injury sliding into a base.

Why too soon? 2016 was David Ortiz's final season. And we did, after all, succeed to the extent of winning the division the last 2 seasons.

Most of us seem to think it's kind of pointless to project what the Red Sox are going to look like that far in the future. What is the purpose? What is the benefit?

The system is designed more and more to make it difficult to stay on top for long. That's just the way it is. Bud Selig wanted parity because the more fans you have thinking their team has a shot at glory, the more money flows into MLB coffers.

BA alone doesn't really tell us much. Giancarlo Stanton's career BA is .268. Brock Holt's career BA is .265.
