  1. Atlanta had one this year, arguably, R. A. Dickey. He and Porcello are the most unlikely Cy Young winners of recent years, I would say.
  2. Baseball-Reference has the major league splits for the results of AB's where the batter swung at the first pitch vs. took the first pitch: Swung at it: 270/295/449 = 743 OPS Took it: 249/336/416 = 752 OPS
  3. Personally I'm just tired of it and would love not to hear about it any more. From a PR standpoint at least, Price & Farrell should have realized they were dealing with a very popular figure and apologized. Now let's just move on from it.
  4. DD says no surgeries this offseason (except for the forgotten Scott)!
  5. Jansen is amazing.
  6. Yep. J D Martinez would only cost money, so there's a good case for that...
  7. It's an area in which we could clearly stand to improve, I think. Abreu might be a really good get.
  8. Yes, this series is a long long way from over.
  9. basement benny bequeathed primo prospects, pitiful pitchers, crippling contracts.
  10. I'll take the Dodgers. I think Dave Roberts makes a difference there. They might have the better bullpen as well. Cubs pen is looking a little iffy.
  11. I'm guessing you were a big fan of basement benny.
  12. How is Machado number one in clutch?
  13. My post was strictly about Dombrowski.
  14. So what position do you have Martinez playing?
  15. The last time the Red Sox won consecutive AL pennants, of course, was 1915-1916. 2016-2017 is the only time they've ever won division titles two years in a row.
  16. Of course there's no actual evidence of a 'fractured' clubhouse. But we all know how much fun it can be playing guessy-guessy.
  17. and D) won the division for the second year in a row following two last-place finishes.
  18. You have a good sense of humor for a Yankee fan.
  19. But he had an insanely hot September. Quite a roller coaster ride.
  20. Just looking at this - 3 Golden Sombreros in 5 games!
  21. Depends what you call a tough guy. Is Showalter a tough guy?
  22. Yeah that was a very painful loss...I actually felt bad for Scherzer...he didn't really deserve to have a nightmare inning like that.
  23. Jeezus, don't start with the 105 wins and run away with the division stuff already...
  24. Yes, this was the big thing I took away from the story too.
  25. That's not asking that much, is it?
