  1. As a Sox fan I hate to compliment Yankee players but I like Tanaka, he seems like a cool guy. And it was very impressive the way he bounced back this year.
  2. Our monkey beat the other 28 monkeys to the punch, so he gets bananas for that.
  3. The fact is that none of the other 28 GM's who could have potentially made a trade for Sale did so.
  4. Ben actually did trade a player for Farrell...
  5. Yep, it's every bit as funny as basement benny.
  6. Oh well, Arizona did well this year and I don't think there were any stories about Larussa interfering with Lovullo. That's my Pollyanna take on the matter.
  7. Why not re-sign Sabathia?
  8. The Cardinals have a prospect named J. D. Murders.
  9. Correct me if I'm wrong Kimmi, but I believe the 2017 team had a higher WAR from DD acquisitions than it did from Ben acquisitions. Unless you're giving Ben credit for players like Mookie because he retained them. But in that case DD would also get credit.
  10. At the very least I think DD deserves some credit for the Cora hiring. Cora was the guy some people here had at the top of their list, and DD moved in to get him swiftly and decisively.
  11. Randy Johnson had one of the great lines I've ever heard. For some reason it was on the subject what you would do if someone breaks into your house. He said 'I've got a box of baseballs in the basement, and I'd be coming up throwing.' I can't help picturing this.
  12. Houston does deserve it, there's no question about that. I really Cleveland was the best team going into the playoffs, but crazy s*** happens...who would have thought Kluber would pitch so badly?
  13. A reference to Ms. Upton I'm quite sure.
  14. It was a very fortunate salary dump, no question. I'm sure DD wishes the same.
  15. Tolerate is an interesting word. In one of the more extreme definitions, if something didn't kill you, you tolerated it.
  16. I think it was Howard Cosell who first called him that.
  17. Yep, that was him.
  18. Good for Reddick, absolutely.
  19. Alright. So we might see him hit some home runs in a Boston uniform yet.
  20. That is amazing. A lot of their other predictions not so much.
  21. We've had this discussion before, of course. I don't look at it as a trade, because we got no talent in return unless you really want to count Rubby De La Rosa and Allen Webster. The reports on that trade indicated that Ben was involved at kind of a lower level, that Henry and Lucchino were the driving forces. I do think Lucchino was likely responsible for some of the bad moves during Ben's time. I was a Ben supporter up until 2015. He lost me with Who's the Ace?
  22. This adds to my contention that Schilling was clutch.
  23. Ha. Some guys are just winners.
  24. The Dodger Dump was just incredible luck.
  25. But Kershaw hasn't had any issues with 3rd time through the order in his regular season career.
