  1. I think he's the only one, because they changed the rules after the Red Sox removed him from the 40 man roster.
  2. I believe Slash is referring to Papi's big hit off Keith Foulke in Game 4 of that series with Oakland where he was 2 for 21.
  3. Farrell was interviewed by the Phillies.
  4. Yeah, Sox hitters definitely didn't take advantage of the juiced balls. But look at the numbers: 2015 - average team hit 164 HR's 2016 - average team hit 187 HR's 2017 - average team hit 204 HR's
  5. Dallas Keuchel after last night's game: 'Obviously, the balls are juiced. I think they're juiced 100 percent.'
  6. I think you're trying to make far too much gravy with the 'negative WAR offensive player'. He's not a DH. It's total WAR that matters.
  7. I don't know what they're going to do about Castillo. I agree it's a shame if he gets stuck in tax purgatory. I would think if he continues to really kick ass he'll get out of that purgatory somehow.
  8. Staying around the luxury tax threshold every year as they have been isn't exactly cheaping out, in my books.
  9. Maybe, but I don't think that was the reason. And it's not like he hired some famous retread, he went for new blood.
  10. Yeah, but he's been saying it forever. That wipes out the credit.
  11. The Sox spend plenty. The Dodgers are the one team out of 30 acting like the penalties don't matter.
  12. Arguably just necessary acquisitions. Depends what you call making a splash. When I think splash moves I think moves made mainly to please the fans.
  13. It's very similar to the Sox firing Farrell. We'll never know all the real reasons for the moves - only Dombrowski and Cashman know.
  14. Give me an example of him 'making a splash' since he joined the Sox.
  15. Yeah, after all they've only won the division 2 years in a row after finishing last the 2 previous years. Such terrible incompetence!
  16. moon, in the history of salary dumps, are there any examples of the team doing the dumping taking back something like HanRam's remaining contract - a potential 2 year, $44 million liability for them?
  17. Shaughnessy has written numerous stories about Adrian Gonzalez being 'The Cooler', a guy who seems to consistently bring bad luck to his current team. The crazy thing is that the facts seem to back that up. This year the Dodgers were barely above .500 in the 90 or so games he played.
  18. I think it's possible that Kershaw has matured and learned how to deal with pressure better. The same may be true of Verlander. He struggled earlier in his career in the postseason. Hopefully the same will be true of Price. Of course there may be some randomness in there too.
  19. I'm thinking Brock Holt will be back after all.
  20. If we're trading Benintendi, we're trading him for GFS (Stanton).
  21. As one of the Twitter commenters notes, this is the 4th surgery since our GM said there'd be none.
  22. You are indeed the Stealth Bombers.
  23. Votto is on a team that should be rebuilding.
