  1. I think we've made too much of the splits stuff. O'Neill was 3rd on the team in offensive WAR, that was my main beef about losing and not replacing him.
  2. Based on our collection of choice rumors, Cora was kind of leading the charge to sign Bregman and also to have him move to 2B. That would seem to make him one of the designers/shoppers in this case.
  3. Yeah, I was kind of surprised anyone wanted to open this delicious can of worms again, but here we are. 😄
  4. Yes, I'm wondering if the quest for max effort and max velocity in all things will result in more injuries of this kind to hitters. I'm wondering if Devers's shoulder issues may also be a result of how hard he swings.
  5. RBIs are a product of luck, no? Shall we dig up those Hunter Renfroe posts, the ones where we chuckled at Red for making so much of the 96 RBIs in 2021 on, you guessed it, 31 HRs?
  6. Sometimes have to agree with the old schoolers like D. Galehouse that baseball has gotten WAY too analytical. I mean, the Sox just acquired an excellent ballplayer and finally proved they really are serious about competing, and yet there are a lot of negatory comments (and not just here) about the deal, mostly because of roster fit and analytics stuff.
  7. Are you calling him a chocker with men on base?
  8. He did step up to the plate 421 times last year, 7th most on the team. It's not like he was totally buried.
  9. Kind of glad I made an optimistic prediction here now. I certainly came to doubt it since then LOL.
  10. There is no "crowd", IMO. I think we all speak our own minds here. Being labelled as part of a "crowd" is kind of insulting.
  11. I think there must be a plan already in place. I mean, this signing comes as a surprise to us, but it's been a real possibility for the team for quite a while now.
  12. I think most Talksox posters were unhappy about the spending before this. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone!
  13. Weren't you in that crowd?
  14. Being out of the top 10 2 years in a row definitely mattered to me.
  15. Cora must be absolutely amped. Not only did he get the player he wanted, but he's got all kinds of new complications to figure out!
  16. True, but I'm feeling pretty Polly about the playoffs this morning.
  17. It's great news for Sox fans. Kennedy's words about paying tax and chasing 90 wins have been validated.
  18. It's getting to the point only a freak of nature can have a 10 year career with no TJ.
  19. If they had any sense of humor they'd have a Gerry Cardinale bobblehead giveaway.
  20. Frankly I'm not sure what you're talking about with the 'love' thing. I don't think anyone 'loves' Bello the way you're going on about it. Who cares if Crawford was a little better last year? I'm glad we have both Bello and Crawford. They're pretty similar, both around average, both have been durable, both good to have.
  21. They're cheapskates every which way, aren't they?
  22. He's projected to be just about average in 2025 - 2 to 2.5 WAR. An average starter who takes the ball every 5 days is a definite asset.
