  1. You don't like the deal but qualifying it as a panic move is both silly and revisionist. Hindsight is 20/20.
  2. Arb panels are composed of guys who put a lot more stock into offensive and counting stats, not advanced stats or fWAR. I cited it as a catch-all for general productionl. Also, they usually use the previous two years as "platform" which is the term I keep using for arb calculations. I will make a bet right here and now that Bogaerts eclipses five million in arbitration next year. The process doesn't work as you think it does.
  3. What is it with you writing the exact same post I'm writing two seconds before I post it?
  4. A 200 IP, #1 or #2 starter package begins with Espinoza. What you are asking for is the rarest of commodities. Especially with multiple years of control.
  5. Fernandez had TJ surgery and essentially lost 1.5 seasons of play. Neither of Pollock's platform pre-arb years come close to what Bogaerts will end up doing this year , and Bogaert's pre-pre arb year is also better than Pollock's (per Fwar). So yeah, he should eclipse 5 million. The fact that he plays SS should only aid his cause.
  6. Essentially every post you make. You are re-defining the very concept of trolling. Kudos, you are a trolling pioneer!
  7. That will never happen because of attrition, trades, and some of those guys not panning out.
  8. I would like an explanation regarding how this qualifies as a "panic move".
  9. Focus your rage on the Yankees fan. He's everything that's wrong with the world today.
  10. Seriously Hugh, you bring great insight and I respect your POV and opinions, but the "I know more about prospects than all of you combined" schtick is really f***ing annoying. Stick to making your points without trying to diminish everyone else's knowledge about prospects. Except for the Yankees fan. He's fair game, and you can s*** on him as much as you want.
  11. My take on it is that the general consensus among talent evaluators is that Pomeranz "broke through" when he added the cutter, and they're gushing about his makeup and fire because he basically talked his way into being considered for a rotation spot. This is a big gamble for both sides because of the volatility of prospects and Pomeranz' track record, but as I've said before, DD is rarely wrong in these types of trades. On the other hand, I am willing to bet that the Padres asked for Kopech and the Sox balked, as I said before.
  12. Home: 2.64 ERA, 1.11 WHIP Away: 2.32 ERA, 1.01 WHIP. This stuff takes 30 seconds to look up.
  13. Wright better not f*** this up.
  14. DD was never going to give up Kopech instead of Espinoza. I've been following the Tigers for years since I lived in Michigan, and DD believes in the "Texas system" of big pitchers with big fastballs. He'll draft the small ones, but he'll trade 'em.
  15. Pomeranz probably doesn't break out if the Sox get him during the off-season. The guessing game is just that: Guessing.
  16. Pomeranz added a cutter before ST, and it figures significantly into his current repertoire (he throws it over 15% of the time, similar percentage as his breaking ball) to go along with an improved (but still show-me) changeup. I get the points about the risk, and it's all fair, but take the thirty seconds to look up if the BS you're spouting is actually correct. The main reason for DP's breakout is that he's no longer a two-pitch pitcher. By the way, talent evaluators consider his results "sustainable" but fear issues with his durability. That's the professional take. Don't make stuff up.
  17. Bogaerts will make a hell of a lot more than 3.5 mill with his two platform pre-arb years.
  18. Is it possible to love and hate a trade at the same time?
  19. Espinoza's size will not be a limiting factor either way. It's just a way to try to pinpoint DD's thinking here.
  20. The fact of the matter is that DD is simply not a fan of undersized pitchers with upper-echelon velocity. The thought creeped into my mind that he may trade him, but I didn't think he'd go through with it so quickly, and for anything less than an established, upper-echelon SP. Maybe they project Pomeranz to become that. Only time will tell.
  21. If we can get one of those two, then we're really in business.
  22. I'll bet dollars to doughnuts Kopech is the guy SD actually asked for.
  23. Size. Dombrowski is not a fan of smaller-framed pitchers with high velocity as starters.
  24. That's because the post he was responding to was not reeking with a douchey and unwarranted sense of self importance/smugness. You should try that more often.
