  1. The OP in this thread is why we can't have nice things
  2. There's an argument to be made for consistently getting one or two year deals. I can see it. If anything, he might use it to motivate himself to perform better
  3. One thing I always loved about Cano was how easy he made playing 2nd base look. He was so casual out there. You never saw him doubt himself or really experience any sort of fear or nerves. He made spectacular plays seem routine, because he was also one that shied away from the spotlight
  4. Robinson Cano, don't ya know (better)?
  5. Ah. Totally understandable. I can relate
  6. Any reason why he stepped down other than speculation about the 10 years thing?
  7. YOU SAID LAST POST UNTIL WINTER MEETINGS Get out of here forever

Congrats to Dustin Johnson on winning the Masters! Big fan of his approach to the game. Been trying to emulate it (unsuccessfully) for a few years now. With the win at Augusta, he now currently holds the title in both events in Georgia (Tour Championship and the Masters - two of the biggest cash prizes in the world), as well as both events in New England, having won in both Hartford and Boston this year as well.
  9. Sad. He made Eck seem neutral
  10. As an umpire, I know from experience that most of us know when we get a call wrong, and most "blown calls" we know we blew. This isn't the case all the time. But it's not like we can just change our minds. Instant replay lets the wrong be righted when we know we make a mistake. I love the game, and I love being on the field as an umpire since I couldn't get to play beyond HS, but being behind the plate is by far the best position as an umpire. You're excited for your plate games all day. Not being able to call balls and strikes would take most of the fun away, at least for me.
  11. Well then I don't get the point. Who would want to be an umpire if they're taking away your biggest job responsibility? It's either all or nothing. Either totally replace them in every facet or don't do anything
  12. Get rid of the first two words, please
  13. I like the idea of robot umps for that reason, but what do you do about bang bang plays at home plate for example? Say you have a motion sensor to see when the runner crosses. But then do you tell the catcher he can't touch the plate at all? Robot balls and strikes wouldn't cause that much of an interruption, but full on robot umps making every single call would cause huge changes to the game as we know it.
  14. I know, just wanted to put that out there. Lot of problems to fix first
  15. Doesn't mean we'll instantly be good again
  16. I have concerns about Downs, most of which stem from my fear that he will be swinging for the Downs on every pitch
  17. In the running for the best Twitter handle now that I deleted my account
  18. Yes, but even if he does want the job, it seems like the Sox want him more at this point
  19. Spot on observation Elk. Makes a lot of sense. Most broadcasters will likely still be broadcasting from home next year anyway. From what I've seen so far, it really does seem like the Sox are salivating over him, and that it's a one-sided enamoration
  20. Even before COVID I thought that was unsanitary
  21. Not MVP
  22. Now I would really love to catch a game with you
  23. That's encouraging for those of us in the ani-Cora club. So me and me only
  24. I'm fine with JBJ unless somebody better comes along
  25. And I'm the kind of guy that gets so committed you couldn't pay me to miss a game I was supposed to be working. I have to be there. Or else.
