  1. You know what they say: There's always at least one a-hole in sight
  2. Are we sure Devers wasn't playing for them in some sort of previous life reincarnation?
  3. I actually like this move
  4. I certainly don't disagree with that
  5. Well, it's usually white girls my age with nothing better to do, but I get your point and agree with it. I feel the same way. Like, let them come out and tell us they feel marginalized. By assuming how they feel, you are basically treating them just as badly.
  6. Eh, people will still find a way. It bugs me that the majority of people that lodge these complaints couldn't care less about those teams, or sports in general.
  7. You can't talk about Naps without bringing up the Hall of Famer Nap Lajoie. He literally played for the Naps while also having the name Nap
  8. Same thing in CT. My HS mascot was the Sachems, which is basically another Indian chief. I don't remember when they changed it but it has changed since I graduated in 2017. Most of the teams in the area are Indian names. Our rivals were the Tomahawks
  9. I vote we change the Detroit Tigers to the Detroit Gender-Nonconforming Blobs of Ineptitute
  10. I have more of a problem with Blackhawks being very close to Black C***s than I do with it being a Native American name
  11. You could argue that 2011 might have been our most "star-studded" year
  12. There's been some on and off talk for awhile about starting an announcers thread. Is that something people would be into?
  13. Guys, why do we still respond to his spam? Just ignore him and he'll go away
  14. Agreed. Wonder why he feels that way, though
  15. Earlier this fall, when I realized that most HS sophomores weren't alive when the Sox won the 04 World Series, that made me feel old. It all evens out
  16. Most of the players that have died this year have reminded me that I'm still young, as I have never heard of most of them. Nice change of pace. RIP tho
  17. Seriously though, if both Springer and Cora are associated with this team in 2021, I'm going to have a huge internal struggle debating whether to condemn this team, or to buy cheap bleacher seat 3-4x a week to watch potential contender.
  18. I don't think he will ever be the same again. Would love to be proven wrong, but I think we need to take it easy on him all season. I would put him in the #5 spot and alternate his turn in the rotation with somebody else (either bullpen day or the same guy every time) and have that persist all year. If he puts up good numbers early, increase the workload at a snail's pace. We're in a very precarious situation here, because our best two pitchers have so much uncertainty regarding their future potential. It's a crapshoot at this point. Sale could pitch like he did in 2018, and ER how he did in 2019, or they could both be shells of their past selves for the rest of their careers. Overworking either of them this year definitely won't help anything
  19. Give me Jackie or give me death!
  20. Same, but I'm not fond of either option. It's like when the Cowboys play the Eagles. Somebody has to win, but I'd rather not see it
  21. I do love the idea of Lester ending his career in Boston, but don't agree with Perez. What's your logic behind that (unless I missed it in an earlier post?). Is it based purely on innings pitched? I don't trust Perez to remain effective over 162 games
  22. I don't believe I have posted in this thread, so to answer the original question: I don't expect much out of Sale in 2021. I don't expect him back at least until after the All Star Break (which we should still have even if the ASG is cancelled), and depending on where we are in the standings, I don't think there should be any rush to bring him back. I expect him to be back at full strength in 2022, but I have a hard time seeing a future where he performs at the same level as he did in 2018, or the first half of 2019. I would love to be proven wrong. I just think it's a lot of wait and see at this point. There's way too many uncertainties at this point.
  23. Yeah, I got what you meant. I also could never imagine Tanaka in Boston. I'd feel bad for him the first time we went to NYY
  24. I agree with that assessment. So many names on the market this year that as long as you get one, you'll probably pick up a good name. Not sure how I feel about Tanaka though. When his sinker stays up, there's no reason for me to think he's any different from Porcello
