    If he was claimed through waivers, he would have only needed to stay on the active roster through the end of the season and then for another 30-45 days next year and then you'd be able to option him. If he's selected again, he'd have to stay on the active roster for the entirety of 2024. There's just no way that he's getting selected.

    No, at his peak he was more valuable than Brandon Walter at 13. Aldo was given a much higher grade than ERC who is at 25. The 2021 top 10: Casas Downs Duran Whitlock Houck Jimenez Seabold - prior to him losing his changeup and falling down the rankings Ward - prior to him getting TJS Ramirez Yorke That's not a bad top 10 for what it is.

    Wong is ahead of him because he's a very good defensive catcher and catchers get a bigger bump in WAR for their defense than most other positions. LF and DH are an automatic penalty in the WAR calculation. It makes sense that he's behind Devers, Duvall, Turner, Casas and Duran as they've put up big offensive numbers this year, but Masa has been up and down. Verdugo's offensive WAR is lower than Yoshida's, but he's making up for it with outstanding RF defense which came after a very bad defensive season in 2022 (-5 DRS in RF last year).

    Ian Cundall from SoxProspects was at Greenville last night so it'll be interesting to hear what he has to say about Song's start. It's good that he was able to go 5 innings. I'm not going to get too excited about it because of the extreme lack of strike outs. @IanCundall Noah Song tonight in Greenville: 5 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 1 K. 71 p/37 s. FB, SL, CH, CB. Mostly FB 89-93 & SL 80-84. Delivery is a work in progress which is understandable given time off.
