  1. It's both.
  2. My replacement would be Eric Gregg, but I'm not currently in favor of digging up corpses to do my bidding.
  3. Wrong-handed SPer? Gomber is a LHP. He sat Duran/Yoshida/Devers who are all LHB. WTH?
  4. Yeah, Devers' best years were when he had a higher walk rate or a lower strike out rate (19, 21, 22) as it makes him a more complete hitter. Chasing bad pitches means that he'll make worse contact overall (FB% is a career high 43%). He's pulling the ball more, but not hitting line drives, just big fly outs. If he was more selective, he'd go back to making better contact IMO. Devers hits 2nd or 4th, so I don't think we'd expect the guys you listed (aside from Casas) to drive him in as they are hitting WAY behind him.
  5. I'd only trust an eye test from a real eagle eyed pro like Angel Hernandez.
  6. "/s" means that the post was purely sarcastic in nature.
  7. He was damaged goods that they bought at a discount. Maybe they thought he could rehab his way out of it or that putting him at 2b would fix the problem. It didn't work. I didn't like the signing either.
  8. He's not taking my calls at the moment. Reyes has better offensive and defensive numbers than Kiké. Why is Kiké still an everyday player? Is Reyes a longterm solution? No. Is he better than Kiké at SS? Yes.
  9. Is WAR good now? Isn't WAR only one tool that never paints the whole picture anyway? Aren't there several data points you need to provide to really identify how well a player is doing?
  10. If he has a 3 fWAR season, is there ANY chance he sits back and takes that player option?
  11. We're all too old for this s***.
  12. I was asking you. You made the distinction between him and deGrom and Rodon. If we signed Wacha and said "that's it for the offseason" I think fans would have been rightfully concerned.
  13. 608 OPS since May 1. Seems not good for what he's getting paid?
  14. Was Wacha seen as a TOP OF THE ROTATION STARTER this offseason? Wasn't that what we needed?
  15. You've been around long enough to know how people take things on here. It's been worse around here, but we try to keep the temperature down as much as possible if we can. It's a weird bizzaro community, but it could always be worse. I have insisted since the end of last season that no progress can be made until Manager Alex the Cheater Cora and usless BO Director Jaime Bloom are fired and it must be done before we get swept by both TB and the Angels this weekend.. Nothing positive can come from our team's hope for the future until these two bums are cashiered. OR Because the filthy rotten cheater once again thought he was the smartest MAN IN THE ROOM AND THOUGHT HECOULDSURPRISE THE ROCKIES WITH A PITCHER THEY HAD NEVER SEEN BEFORE. ONCE AGAIN IT BLEW UP IN HIS FACE. NOW IF KENLEY WASN'T AVAILABLE BECAUSE OF ILLNESS OR INJURY I COULD SEE CORA'S HAND WAS LIMITED BUT IF NOT IT JUST GOES TO SHOW THAT THE MAN HAS CLEARLY LOST IT. Th guy has the Mark of Cain on him and the team will not revive again until his sad and sorry ass is jettisoned once and for all and with Bloom following him out of his latest s*** show.
  16. He's an average to below average pitcher who has thrown over 140 innings in a year twice in his career. He's having a good stretch and it doesn't impact the Sox in any meaningful way.
  17. Is it really atrocious if they are above .500?!?!? Webster's defines atrocious as savagely wicked or cruel. It's not like we're Washington Nationals fans coming off a WS championship and going 172 - 278 (.382 %). /s
  18. This is a bigger issue than "Michael Wacha is having a good season." Overall, Bloom hasn't put competitive teams on the field. Is he overly concerned with the bottom of the 40 man roster and not the top of it?
  19. The people that are bringing him up aren't the ones saying he isn't good. The people that are bringing him up are doing so to say "why didn't Bloom re-sign him." Bloom could have signed any number of FA SP's. There weren't any posters on here yelling from the rooftops that the Sox needed to sign Wacha while the guy was languishing in FA during ST. If Wacha is really a 180 IP, sub 3.00 ERA guy, he would have been worth a QO. NOBODY thought that was a good idea when it was brought up by moon last season. Wacha isn't here. Who cares. Why keep going back to the one player doing well? Xander has struggled since April. Vaz has been bad. I don't think we need to give Bloom flowers for letting those two guys go or pan him for not keeping Wacha in hindsight.
  20. It was probably time for him to take a "scheduled day off" and they waited for a LHP to be the starter? IDK. As for the babying comment, I ain't going back a few pages to read all about that. You guys can hash that out on your own. The ignore feature works both ways from my experience.
  21. He knows so much about roster construction that he let Kiké get to 14 errors, -7 DRS, -9 OAA in only 400 innings at the most important fielding position. He was worse than Edgar Renteria in 2005! He was probably the worst Red Sox SS I've seen in my lifetime!
  22. What does Wacha really have to do with the 2023 Sox or Bloom anyway? Pan him for not signing Wacha, but congratulate him for not signing deGrom or Rodon? Should we go down the list of all available FA and grade him on which guys he should or shouldn't have signed in hindsight?
  23. It depends on what Bloom wants to do. If he's building for the future beyond '24, it would make sense to deal Jansen if there's a substantial return. If he thinks he can't extend Verdugo, he should probably consider the same thing. Verdugo's trade value will only go down from here the closer he gets to FA. Will they already punt on '24? Doubtful as they keep telling us they are going to be competitive, but do it in a half assed manner. Most of us like the concept as presented, but not the execution. There have been some good things that Bloom has done, but lots of bad things too.
