  1. I didn't listen to the podcast Rosenthal was on. Will have to give it a shot and let you all know what he said about the changes.
  2. Yes. Underperforming by a whopping one win. That's just the odds today. Sox could still make a run at the 3rd WC spot if things broke correctly. I don't think it's going to happen though. I also don't see a "fire sale" happening. Maybe they trade Paxton? Maybe they keep him and offer him the QO? Rosenthal suggested there was going to be a huge change to the Sox. We'll have to see. I thought last year was the year to do it. This year seems more like a waiting game. If guys aren't in your future, no harm in trading them though. Tickets are already sold, just bring up Hamilton/Abreu see if the Sox start sucking.
  3. And you know it’s not always linear. It’s not always easy. We’ve taken a couple haymakers. You know what? We’re probably going to take a couple more. This is baseball. It’s not supposed to be easy. But I want to be clear: We’re going to do this. It’s going to be awesome. And we are going to get there and just want to thank all you for your support and hope it’s a little clearer today.
  4. It's almost like people need to look at more than one number to get the whole picture. What a concept!
  5. No, the original numbers were Pythag, which made them a .500 team this season.
  6. That's not what I said either.
  7. Sorry, I pulled the Pythagoreon W/L for Bloom. 20 .400 21 .568 22 .481 23 .493
  8. He was drinking too much Whistle Pig when he was designing this club. Shame!
  9. He wants to be competitive by not spending! Don't you get it?!? How could you blame him? He's still in the top half of the league! They can't go over every year! It's not the money spent, it's how it was spent! /s
  10. Ben Win%: 12 .426 13 .599 14 .438 15 .440 (at date of DD hiring) Bloom Win%: 20 .417 21 .546 22 .469 23 .501 Maybe this team can make a run as they get some players back, but losing Sale really hurt their chances. That's what happens when you build a rotation on older, injury prone guys though.
  11. I didn’t say they wouldn’t move to Vegas.
  12. DSL Blue won 10-0 today. Cespedes has a 1155 OPS and may be sent to the FCL at some point. Much more importantly though, the pitchers today for DSL Blue were: Nicolas De La Cruz 4 IP 0 ER 5 K, 0 BB, 2 H Darlyn De La Cruz 4 IP 0 ER 6 K, 2 BB, 2 H Ruben De La Cruz 1 IP 0 ER 2K, 0 BB, 0 H
  13. My original beef with Wacha goes back to the 2013 WS when Buck/McCarver were just fluffing the guy every chance they could get. Thankfully, he took it on the chin in Game 6. https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/BOS/BOS201310300.shtml
  14. Last 4 starts: 22.2 IP 3.18 ERA 1.37 WHIP 17 H 14 BB 20 K The BB's are something to monitor, but today was a good day for him.
  15. Don't make me go to the other board and find more SBF quotes today...
  16. Michael Wacha's career mirrors the 2022 Red Sox. High expectations at the onset. Some bad stretches. Some good stretches. Overall they ended up slightly below average, but some people will go to the grave telling you that they sucked.
  17. They have to pick up 24 and 25?
  18. He played Raffy in Game 2 and Raffy hit 2 HR's. He sat Raffy in Game 3 and the Sox won. Seems like Cora did fine with the Raffy situation IMO.
  19. I tried looking at older Cora quotes. Seems like he just plays it by ear and has in mind when a guy needs to sit. He wanted Raffy to get a rest at some point in the Rockies series and just waited until the Gomber LHP start. It was just happenstance that it was before a day off. If Raffy is really beat up or whatever, I don't see what the big deal is.
  20. Biggest difference between Kluber and Wacha is that Wacha is a relatively competent starting pitcher. Seems like Kluber's career is over?
  21. It'll be interesting to see if they pick up the team option. This is the first year he's been over 2 fWAR since 2017. Is it a safe bet for him to be a 2+ fWAR guy in '24 and '25? Of course the Padres don't seem to care about money at the moment. And for how much we love the Padres defense and pitchers, they have the same record as the Red Sox.
  22. 2 of the ER were on a 319' HR, which is among the 10 shortest HR's in professional baseball this season.
  23. Drohan continued his run of good starts in WOO. 6IP 6H 1BB 7K 3ER Nice to see the BB number go down.
  24. Even though it's a bad stat, coming in last says a lot about the defense.
