  1. @redsoxstats Today's promotion of Roman Anthony to High-A Greenville makes him the youngest player in the South Atlantic League. 19.9 Ryan Clifford 19.9 T.J. White 19.5 Jackson Holliday 19.1 Roman Anthony
  2. They have guys to sell, but they don't really have "expiring contracts" like last season. They could deal a whole hell lot of people including farm capital to fix some of their issues (defense, bad pitching, offensive heavy farm).
  3. The defense is an immovable suck.
  4. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/the-pitch-clock-and-its-effects-on-pitching-performance-and-injuries/ Pace of play hasn't had a great impact on pitcher injuries or performance.
  5. Who said it was a disastrous SEASON? The quote was "disastrous 10-game stretch" for the offense in 3 straight seasons.
  6. I just don't know if there's enough to sell.
  7. A nobody.
  8. Nate could probably with his k/bb rate. Doubtful for Wacha as he is a pitch to contact guy.
  9. @redsoxstats This is the third straight season in which the Red Sox offense has had a disastrous 10-game stretch of scoring 25 or fewer runs. Aug 7, 2021 (2-8) May 8, 2022 (2-8) June 12, 2023 (3-7)
  10. Roman Anthony promoted to GRE.
  11. The 2004 Sox didn't have to go against a coked up Doc Gooden!
  12. No, if that's the expectation, they should clearly just tell everyone that rather than saying it'll be awesome and they'll be competitive.
  13. You have a hammer and everything looks like a nail.
  14. So is his 398 OPS if you have a microscope.
  15. No, the only former players (pre-23) they are paying are Barnes (through 25), Hosmer, Manny (through 26) and Pedroia (until the sun explodes).
  16. Brooks Brannon hit his 2nd HR today in FCL. 1390 OPS in 5 Games. Probably has the bat for Low A, but I think they see him as the full package at Catcher and want to take their time developing the High School draftee.
  17. @EdHand89 Jackie Bradley Jr has been DFA'd by the Kansas City Royals. He was slashing .133/.188/.210 with one home run over 113 PA. His admittedly useful 0.5 dWAR did not do nearly enough to overshadow his offensive flaws. Might be the end of the road for an overall solid career.
  18. Yeah, because Arraez only has 1 HR and 1 SB, 15 in 450 G. His batting average is the one old school stat he can hang his hat on. He doesn't hit for lots of power, isn't fast and can't field for s***.
  19. Good, back then that's what they used. The game has moved on. The players have too.
  20. Why even watch then?
  21. They are wheeling out Chase Anderson in Game 2. If they can't hit well now, they never will.
  22. Yup and many DET outlets were saying the same thing at the time. DET FO was saying "Jobe was #1 on our sheet, scouted Mayer but wasn't impressed with the hit tool, Jobe has a great makeup and can be a #1 starter." With young arms these days, any pitch could lead to a career defining injury.
  23. Starter ERA 5.07 Starter xFIP 4.08 (10th in MLB)
  24. I didn't want to mention the Verdugo thing. He has one more ARB year and has recouped a lot of his value this season. Probably has more real trade value than the other guys mentioned. However, I think the plan is to move Masataka to a more fulltime DH role starting next year. They'll need to fill all three OFer spots. If they get rid of Verdugo, Abreu better be ready for fulltime AB's. 2024: LF Refsnyder/Valdez? CF Duran/Abreu RF Verdugo
  25. Pitcher wins and losses.
