  1. The "R" in WAR doesn't stand for Average.
  2. Jim... Rice? That's like a made up last name right? Like Matt Carrot or Charlie Pasta? Is he a create a ballplayer from some new video game I don't know about? I'm just a lowly J-E-T-S fan emerging from the primordial ooze.
  3. Players aren't allowed to slump! DFA!
  4. Surprised Pikachu face.
  5. He was starting in AAA before he was called up.
  6. Could be.
  7. Their farm system is GOATed too.
  8. What was the analytics on the Whitlock sliding catch? I only saw the highlights. Is he a 2.0 dWAR guy as a pitcher? The next Greg Maddux?
  9. Plays decent defense and has lots of pop. I've enjoyed the Adam Duvall experience. Too bad he got injured.
  10. Hmmm, that doesn't sound right! I could have sworn that my favorite childhood player won the MVP in 1978. Huh! I know for sure it wasn't the Cobra Dave Parker.
  11. Those familiar with TalkSox lore know the reason for the ‘78 moniker: I’m a huge Willie Stargell fan.
  12. https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/mlb-trends-inside-the-decline-in-errors-plus-bobby-witt-jr-breaks-out-and-christian-yelich-returns-to-form/#:~:text=There%20were%201.77%20errors%20per,rate%20in%20history%20this%20season. There were 1.77 errors per game in 1970. That number gradually dropped to 1.71 in 1980, 1.51 in 1990, 1.42 in 2000, and 1.25 in 2010. Clearly though, that decline has accelerated in recent years, and MLB is on pace to post its lowest error rate in history this season. It's all bookkeeping that has no real impact on the action on the field. It is a rather significant shift in a short period of time though. 2019: 1.19 errors per game (between the two teams) 2020: 1.17 2021: 1.08 2022: 1.06 2023: 1.01
  13. We may see a couple more, but I don't think anything substantial.
  14. I don't know where it came from, but I've read it elsewhere that official scorers are more likely to call more plays a hit and less errors (see: Harper's inside the park job that should have had an error called).
  15. Not the suggestion at all.
  16. The Bush Push was a legitimate play. Rudy was a pedo. All golden domers go straight to hell. Even Boston College fans can agree with that.
  17. I see an FAQ but no key? Halp?
  18. I'm a Jets, Trojans, Canadians fan. My #1's are far different from yours.
  19. Kristian Campbell called up to GRE. Had a 1082 OPS in FCL. Skipping SAL as he's a college grad.
  20. And yet it happens everyday on here in one form or another.
  21. Agreed 1,000,000%. I'm really into the PPA right now because it's just a more modern game. Johns and Waters are just at the top of their game right now. Why follow baseball at all at this point? Boring game!
  22. I didn't even start following the Red Sox until they hired Chaim Bloom so...
  23. 2007 was Mike Lowell, 0.9 dWAR, 5.0 bWAR, 150 GS at 3B.
  24. And now there's just over a month left. It's less and less likely at this point.
  25. Needs a sports psychologist.
