  1. One of the worst Red Sox to ever do it (-1.5 fWAR). Grateful that we got to see him suffer in '24 with NYY.
  2. As CBO, I'm Alex's boss and can tell him what he needs to believe. I'm selling in '22 so that the Sox can build the next great Red Sox team instead of halfassing it the way Bloom/Breslow did on Earth 1.
  3. Can only start 9 guys. He's the worst of the 4 OFers and can go.
  4. There were no changes in his bat speed from '24 to '25.
  5. Conteras will be 34 this year. Alonso will be 31. If Alonso was showing the same signs of as a career long catcher who was 3 years older, any argument about him signing here should just pack it in. Contreras is a better fit because his glove is better and his contract is only 2 years long. 5 years of Pete Alonso at DH for 30M+? No thanks.
  6. It wasn't hindsight for some of us. I wanted them to sell off on day one of '22. I wanted them to trade Kenley and Martin in '24. They should have tried to go for it in '23 as they didn't really have any pieces to deal off (could have done the deal for Jack Flaherty).
  7. They asked too much apparently. What too much is? Nobody is saying.
  8. Think of all the prospects he could have gotten for Anthony though. 😍
  9. If I had to redo the Red Sox offseason while spending the same money I would: MOVES TO KEEP Contreras trade Durbin trade Oviedo trade Suarez signing FA ADDS Ozuna REPORTED TRADES TO ADD Marte (Mayer plus Early plus another top 20 prospect) THEORETICAL TRADES TO ADD Duran for prospects Masa plus cash for anything ROSTER Narvaez, Contreras, Marte, Story, Durbin, Abreu, Rafaela, Anthony, Ozuna, Wong, Monasterio, Romy, Eaton Crochet, Suarez, Bello, Oviedo, Sandoval, Chapman, Slaten, Whitlock, Weissert, Fitts, Tolle, Crawford, Watson Same payroll, plus the addition of RH power bats at the expense of Sonny Gray and Mayer.
  10. The '22 and '23 deadlines are why Bloom got fired.
  11. Nobody really thinks this.
  12. Nobody thought May was a reasonable pickup. There were calls at the '22-'24 deadlines to either sell or buy. Each season, the Sox kind of hedged their bets instead and the deadlines were wasted. Standing pat and doing nothing is just not a good strategy when you can get a trove of prospects for a reliever like Chris Martin or Kenley Jensen.
  13. HOU won the series because they limited the Sox to an average of 1 run over the last 3 games while the Astros averaged 8. That's quite a few HR's the Sox would have had to hit to make up for the bad pitching. It was just a complete collapse.
  14. If LAA had any sense, they'd keep Neto for another year or so and then deal him for prospects. The problem is that LAA has a terrible scouting system and would get fleeced in any deal. Awful org.
  15. Ever the eternal optimist: '23: 91.1 '24: 90.2, due to the injury '25: 87.6, due to all his games being played in bad weather Mar/Apr
  16. Per 650? His career high is 502!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 766 is what Sal Frelick, PCA and Ian Happ hit. Guys that can actually field a position. It would have been 9th on the Red Sox last season. 800 is basically what Nate Lowe did for the Red Sox in a partial season. He was given an MiLB contract because 1B guys have little to no value anymore, especially ones that don't field very well.
  17. They all have the ability to be great. It's just hard to see where they all get playing time to show it with this roster construction.
  18. Monasterio is a great fit for the roster. Can play all the IF positions. Decent split from what I remember.
  19. Hard to see that with 4 OFers all needing AB's.
  20. Harper is still owed 6/144. That's a lot for a guy who is 33 and hasn't always been healthy. His EV's are waning. His speed is decreasing every year. He was plus plus arm strength and now is a net negative.
  21. None of us on here truly know what the budget is supposed to be. Without that, it's hard to really project what the offseason should have been. I'm fine with passing on Schwarber (LHB). If Alonso was a passable 1B, I think they would have signed him. Aside from those two, was there someone they really missed out on? I didn't want Bregman last year for 5 years and certainly not 6. No other team in MLB wanted Suarez to play 3B. It was an imperfect FA class. I like the Contreras move. I like the Gray move. We'll have to see how Suarez does over 5 years. I'm hopeful about Durbin, but he was definitely not in their original plans whatever they were. I'd rather Suarez and Durbin than Bregman's 5 year contract. The one big complaint I have is them not dealing either one of the 4 OFers or eating Masa's contract. Just rip the bandaid off.
  22. The year before, no Red Sox hit 20 HR. Quite the turnaround! 😎
  23. If Crochet wants to start throwing underhanded, I have some tips. 🥎
