  1. The Sox are worse than 1/2 the other teams because they dumped a bunch of their players last offseason and haven't developed any bats recently. DSL players aren't a good bet to succeed as they rarely become top 100 players. The Sox being middle of the road is about as good of a ranking as they're going to get. If you look at POR and WOO, there really isn't a whole lot there except for Eyanson and Arias. Proximity is very important for rankings. Payton Tolle pitched his ass off from day one and had a pitch that was plus plus right away. Can't compare Phillips to him.
  2. Vlad Jr has had a very roller coaster career when you look at the numbers. I wasn't as all in on a long term deal for him as many others. He'll have more good seasons ahead of him, but TOR moved the walls in for him and he's still having a season like this!
  3. 1. Extension - can you explain why people make a big deal out of it or at least why it's a metric on Statcast? Doesn't seem like it's helping a guy like Ryan Watson. 2. Extensions - looking into your crystal ball, who is the next player Breslow signs to an extension? With the increase in pitching injuries, is he less likely to sign Early or Tolle to an extension? 3. Alex Verdugo was out of baseball after age 29 and a 66 wRC+. 29 year old Jarren Duran has a 64 wRC+ this season and has been dreadful at times in the field. I don't believe he's retiring this offseason, but he's been really bad. What is causing this steep decline in production? He's typically been a good fastball hitter, so why can he no longer hit 4 seamers if he still has good bat speed?
  4. Extension and a good sweeper, it's all he's got. Everything else is pretty bad.
  5. It's the 4th year in a row where they've gone on a hot streak prior to the break. No excuses if they come back and drop a few. Need to keep the momentum going.
  6. Nobody on here has been right about this season. It's been a very weird season so far.
  7. While I really don't like Watson, with all the young guys needing to reduce their workload, the Sox are going to need to increase his innings going forward. 😬
  8. Seems like the guys to watch are: Schaffner SS Hull OF Matczynski SS Shelar OF LaFavor RHP
  9. Jake Bruml, Sox Scouting Director, stated that they expect to sign all the guys from the first 10 rounds. Signing deadline is July 27.
  10. I don't think Gonzales will be ready to be a starting OFer for BOS in '28. Godbout's surgery will definitely move his timetable back a little bit. He had an outside chance to get to BOS at the end of '27. Garcia isn't really a C anymore, but especially not at the MLB level. Maybe he can be an emergency catcher? He's really 1b/DH. Winnay is terrible at 3b and needs to be 1b fulltime. I don't think Cespedes will get to BOS by the end of '28. No chance. If anything, he's traded. Hard to project the '29 and '30 guys at all because things change. They are all too far away. Overall, they have a lot of 1B/DH guys and not all of them are going to find playing time at some point: Brannon, Heyman, Garcia, Winnay.
  11. The 4 highest nationally ranked draftees were all hitters. Even though it went 11/9 towards pitchers, this was a hitter focused draft. Most of the money will be spent there. My complaint last offseason was a lack of offensive guys. They seem to be turning it around.
  12. Not Lindor though!!! There were some people who wanted to trade for Lindor because of the drama with Soto. I think we saw what happened recently as reason we don't need him on this team.
  13. Henry should keep the team, but hold onto a CBO for longer than 4 years and make sure ownership stays out of their way. That's the whiplash that is causing the Sox to not have a real run. Bloom/DD/Breslow, they should stick with a guy and hand the keys over. Ever since Theo left, it has felt like ownership has played too large a part in decision making.
  14. I haven't seen any of his starts this year so I can't comment. Is he better or worse than Brannon?
  15. Huh? I no longer trust the Sox valuations. They need to be willing to take a loss on a trade to make the right deal.
  16. 100% We just pay attention to the guys in our system. The same types of players exist throughout MiLB.
  17. Tell that to John Henry? 🤷‍♂️
  18. He won't this year. If he does, I'm not sure the Sox would worry about it. He's not worth a 40 man spot.
  19. The Yankees aren't sellers because they make the playoffs almost every season. They are still 7 games ahead of the Sox even after the Sox have gone on a crazy winning streak and Judge has been out.
  20. I think Soto is very overrated. The pitching in the FCL isn't very good and he's only sporting a 586 OPS. All the hype centered on his athleticism and signing bonus. I've seen enough of those guys flop (sorry) over the past few seasons that I'm over that profile. They need to prove it before they get a rocket strapped to them. Phillips is a reliever to me. Ramos also has a 570 OPS in FCL. All young players have some sort of upside. I think this group just has less upside than some recent top 30 lists we've had.
