  1. That's only if the success from earlier in the season holds true. It could flip in the second half. Pitching could falter and hitting could heat up at home.
  2. You think people are more excited about Arias than they were about Roman Anthony?

  4. Easy to say that now. I wouldn't move him unless it was a huge return. Would Breslow? IDK. I think they like him internally, but they aren't as high on him as they were KC, Roman or even Teel. I feel like the buzz on Arias just isn't that great for whatever reason. Why? Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe prospect fatigue?
  5. It was the only deal they could get done aside from Matz. They tried to also swing the trade with the Twins, but the Twins weren't serious. I don't have a lot of faith in Breslow being able to manage the deadline. Trades in the offseason? Maybe. At the deadline when time is tight? Not really.
  6. What's full buy mode mean to you? Do you think they are WS contenders?
  7. Hard to project what the Sox should do over the next few series and how it should or should not force the Breslow's hand. However, trading Arias et al doesn't necessarily mean something major is coming back just because of the inflated prices at the deadline. https://www.mlb.com/news/dustin-may-dodgers-red-sox-trade Consistently buying at the deadline, or waiting to do so, is bad business.
  8. In this situation, Cora IS a high ranking manager. He's not some low level guy. He was the problem.
  9. A .461 winning % is good now? I said all along that they were a .500 team w/o Judge and it looks like it.
  10. If they wait 17 more games, they'll get a bat that may be ineligible for the playoffs.
  11. They did go 13-2 right before the ASB last year and 10-3 around the deadline. In this stretch, they only made up 4.5 games on the Rays, the team they have a 4 game set with this weekend.
  12. Red Sox 2nd half swoon incoming... According to the article, 1/3rd of teams were using AI for various in game decisions (substitutions, pitch calling, other in game decisions). At least 6 are now calling pitches from the dugout and may be using AI to do so. Some teams are not happy with this decision and it's "caused quite the stir" but the move is to stop additional apps from being installed on the MLB provided Ipads after restrictions had been recently loosened.
  13. The comp has always been Brandon Crawford. He's still on that schedule TBH. I don't think his defense will be as good though.
  14. Unlike others on here, I'm not obsessed with Maikel Garcia and even need to look up how to spell his name. MLB Pipeline: Garcia is one of the best shortstops in the Royals’ system with a quick first step, above-average arm and great range. He is instinctual at the plate and in the field. From TalkSox's own @Davy Andrews on FanGraphs: Garcia came up as a shortstop, but with Bobby Witt Jr. set to lock that position down for the next decade or two, he quickly settled in as one of the best defensive third basemen in the game. Baseball America grade: 60 field, 55 arm, smooth mechanics enable plus defense at multiple spots. BA also noted his strong footwork and that he was instinctual and polished with soft hands.
  15. His extension was hard to negotiate? Where did we here this from? I don't remember this.
  16. He was always a good to great range guy before. Very weird.
  17. A brief history of Realistic Look Threads. 2026: Part I 10/3/25 2025: Part I 9/20/24, Part II 3/23/25 2024: Part I 10/1/23, Part II 3/29/24, Part III 7/30/24 2023: Part I 7/22/22, Part II 2/10/23, Part III 8/26/23 2022: Part I 8/12/21, Part II ???, Part III 5/10/22 (posted by me) 2021: Part I 8/17/20, Part II 3/22/21, Part III 7/30/21 2020: Part I 8/23/19, Part II 2/19/20, Part III 8/17/20 2019: Part 1 10/28/19 (posted by notin), Part I 10/29/18, Part II 6/27/19 2018: Part I 10/9/17 2017: Part I 10/10/16, Part II 3/30/17, Part III 7/31/17 2016: No Part Listed 4/24/16 Seems like he could make one as we get closer to the trade deadline? I like the idea of a pre offseason, post offseason, post trade deadline segmentation. IDK.
  18. I like Pena, but wouldn't expect 5 WAR out of him in a single season again.
  19. I love a lot of this roster. I'm just honest about parts of this roster I don't like. I also see value in trading guys to get the core of the next WS title team.
  20. I'd trade him in a Boston minute.
