  1. Well, the plan was to use JBJ out there fulltime, but he had a 000 OPS in April. If he really didn't care about RF defense, he could have put JD out there!
  2. Also, happy Birthday to Fred Lynn. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/l/lynnfr01.shtml
  3. Crawford HR's by month '24: Apr: 0 May: 5 June: 8 July: 9 Aug: 6 Sept: 6 Even his May numbers were buoyed by his great April. He should go back to not throwing the HR pitch.
  4. Friendship ended with interest. Now truck day is my best friend.
  5. He has 65.6 bWAR (more than Halladay, Feller, Marichal, Sabathia). He really didn't have an injury shortened career as he pitched until his 40's. I know he's a lower tiered candidate, but he's deserving (as are Kevin Brown and Rick Reuschel). Sabathia was a slam dunk this year. Tiant would be if he just retired too.
  6. You have a habit of always running mine down and saying "well that's what YOU'D do, not the Red Sox."
  7. 6 starts in RF in Fenway, 14 away from Fenway. 4 of the RF Fenway starts where in mid June when Abreu was on the IL.
  8. Would make sense because Duran and Abreu played a s*** ton of games last season. If Rafaela doesn't have to cover SS, there is enough flexibility for Cora to move guys around out there. He couldn't last year as he didn't have the bodies.
  9. And you assume that you know everything the Sox will do. We shall see.
  10. I'd throw Masa in LF before putting Romy out there again just to keep Masa happy.
  11. Mookie hit the ground running and never stopped. Devers and Xander struggled in their first full seasons. JBJ never got to the offensive heights that were projected (Griffey Sr comp). Beni started off strong and then lost it. Hard to say what this group will do.
  12. He's going to get LESS than Flaherty? YUCK! 2. Will Pivetta’s market begin to move? Right-hander Nick Pivetta declined a qualifying offer from the Red Sox at the outset of the offseason, but since then there’s been little to say about his market. The Blue Jays were connected to him earlier this offseason, and there’s been some reporting that’s suggested the Padres could have interest if they end up trading Dylan Cease and creating additional budget space. The soon-to-be 32-year-old has hardly been a part of the offseason rumor mill despite being one of the best pitchers remaining on the market since the rush of starting pitching signings during the Winter Meetings. Now that Flaherty has signed and Pivetta is the highest-ranked free agent starter still available on MLBTR’s Top 50 MLB Free Agents list, could his market begin to show signs of life?
  13. Right. I have them at 85 wins or so. Without Raffy, or with a reduced Raffy, this is a below 500 team.
  14. They were at or below 500 the previous 3 years because of the surrounding cast, not because of Raffy. They should be better than 500 this year. If Raffy is hurt, they won't be.
  15. He already does it though. He moves the players all over the field. Duran 105 G CF, 83 LF Refsnyder 46 LF, 37 RF Rafaela 87 CF, 82 SS, 10 2B, 4 3B, 1 RF
  16. With Campbell and Mayer closer to MLB ready, I don't think Rafaela will be forced to play near fulltime SS again unless he's earned it for some weird reason. They are better equipped to deal with an injury in the OF or MIF this year IMO. A Catching or 1B injury would be rough.
  17. We've pushed a CFer to RF before and it worked out ok (2013, 2016).
  18. Anthony and Campbell extensions make sense. However, if they want PPI they can't give them an extension before they reach MLB. The extension has to happen after their first MLB game. If they don't care about the PPI, they can just extend them now. I'm not sure what there appetite is for gaming the system in that manner. I think they need to get the Crochet extension done first no matter what.
  19. Yeah, I'm surprised it hasn't gone up before.
  20. They'll have a similar record to previous years, but with their best player on the sidelines. If their best player is playing, they'll be better than before since the players around him are better than the past few years. Baseball isn't a one man sport like basketball. In ARod's 3 years in TEX, the Rangers never won more than 73 games while ARod had 8+ bWAR seasons each year with 156 HR, 395 RBI, 1011 OPS and played 161+ games each year.
  21. Who is playing RF and CF in this scenario? If it's Rafaela and Duran, I'd push Rafaela to RF and Duran to CF.
  22. We made it...
