  1. OOPSY (God tier prognostication system) has Casas at 3 fWAR this season.
  2. Wow and if he is healthy this year, I bet his prime will be better than 1.7 fWAR and will force his next ZiPS numbers to go up.
  3. Cotsworth heads rise up!
  4. Adam Duvall had an 856 OPS against LHP last year. Just bring him back.
  5. If Casas falls in the woods, will any of us post about it?
  6. https://www.masslive.com/redsox/2025/02/sam-kennedy-red-sox-have-taken-aggressive-approach-still-have-ability-to-add-to-roster.html Speaking outside Fenway Park as part of the team’s “Truck Day” festivities Monday, Kennedy contended that Boston has acted decisively and aggressively this winter while leaving the door open for further additions — even significant ones, “depending upon how things play out here over the next couple weeks.” “I do,” he said when asked if the club has acted with the urgency he spoke about in November. “The approach Bres (Craig Breslow) took was one of extreme aggression, extreme urgency. That doesn’t mean you’re going to end up signing every single free agent you engage with or complete trades that you embark on. It has been great to see the aggressive approach and the sense of urgency within baseball operations to improve. “We have the ability to add, if we can match up on deals that make sense, in terms of where we stand right now. I was asked the question earlier in the offseason about the ability to spend. We were engaged in the Juan Soto negotiations. It is something we have the ability to flexible (with), but it is so player and deal-specific. We’re going to do what’s right for the Red Sox for the short-term, trying to put a team out there that’s built to win in 2025, but also what makes sense for the long term. “It’s always a difficult line to walk, that balance. We get criticized for our messaging on that front and we understand that. It’s hard to navigate the short term and the long term. The only way to really follow up on that and have credibility and trust from our fans is to win baseball games. That’s what we need to do.” "THE ARISTOCRATS!!!" he added.
  7. The only quote presented so far is the "two pillars" quote which suggests he very much cares about pitching and defense. I'm sure he does look at pitching matchups, but those must be tertiary and somewhat flexible since he didn't say "three pillars."
  8. Wilson was a pretty good reliever from 2015-20. Not sure that pitcher is coming back again. He's also a one inning guy so he can't fill in for a Chase Anderson mop up role. Maybe a mild improvement from Joely Rodriguez? He had a decent stretch at one point last season and had a 3.30 FIP on 8/22 but completely fell apart.
  9. Keep on intertwining yourself with online gambling, MLB. It's going great!!!
  10. I'm not sure I'd want to see Grissom either. I would just rather see Campbell at 2b than Grissom based on DEFENSE and then have the leftovers figure out 3b. Romy vs LHP and Grissom vs RHP since Romy has a huge platoon split and Grissom doesn't.
  11. What does that have to do with "Cora makes out lineup cards based on pitching matchups, not based on defensive capabilities?"
  12. I think Sam is insinuating that if the Sox really wanted him, that he'd be signed by now.
  13. Grissom is a bad 2b. He's probably a better fit at 3b. With Raffy going down, I'd rather move Grissom to 3b and play Campbell at 2b where Campbell has played since college
  14. viii Sox will have two of the Opening Day rotation starters miss 10 games or more. ix Sox are on the outside looking in at the deadline and make zero improvements to help the team x Three relievers have 7 saves or more and the closer role is never really settled xi Connor Wong's defense stays at the bad 2024 level xii Mayer has another season marred with injury xiii Fitts, Priester, Dobbins and Sandlin don't make significant improvements to become future rotation pieces
  15. "I honestly think that the two pillars that winning teams have is pitching and defense," Cora told NESN's Tom Caron on Friday. Now THAT is a direct quote. Cora decided by the end of the year that defense was more important than pitching matchups apparently.
  16. # 5 is the most unrealistic based on where ERA stands these days and Buehler's injury history. Wacha had a 3.35 ERA last season and was 10th in the AL.
  17. It would be Vaughn Grissom IMO. ZiPS has him at about a 2 WAR pace if Devers is out for the year. That's an overestimate IMO.
  18. Everyone that thinks bad weather reduces offense needs to explain this then: https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/BOS/BOS202303300.shtml 🤯
  19. He's said that specifically? You have a quote ready to go?
  20. Laureano would be a good signing because you could DFA him midseason and nobody would notice.
  21. For SS specifically? Rafaela (2024) Kiké (2023) Eduardo Nunez Holt Iglesias Punto
  22. 1 Maybe a ball hitting the ladder? That would be fun. 2 Don't see it. 3 Sure, but he hits it on the road. 4 He's had more ejections since the team has been worse, so maybe. 5 Sure 6 '24 was Devers' second highest wRC+. I'm not sure he needs a bounceback season, but I could see him doing better than that. 7 Sure Mine: i Trevor Story 4 WAR ii Campbell starts on Opening Day iii Crochet extension in ST iv Crochet wins CY v Casas plays a career high G vi Masataka Yoshida 800 OPS, 130 wRC+ vii Narvaez holds his own and gets 50/50 starts in the 2nd half
  23. Halladay and Sabathia aren't HOF worthy? I only mentioned guys that I thought were HOF guys in my argument.
