  1. I'm sure his highly valued, I think the CWS would just prefer getting an arm in return rather than a SS with injury concerns.
  2. Not enough to score an impact arm IMO.
  3. They paid him for last year. He was under contract, just injured. s*** happens. 0 fWAR. Could have been worse. 2 year deal. Maybe longer.
  4. What if they were communicating via styrofoam cups and string??!?!?!??!
  5. If the Sox were that close to SEA, SEA should be worried. Their starting SS was injured after the first week of regular season ball and didn't come back until the very end of the season. In between, they used AAA guys and Rafaela who hit under 700 OPS and had a lot of growing pains defensively early on. Maybe it says more about the state of the position than anything else?
  6. I do it. I think the CWS would hold out for a deal where they get a real good arm coming back or are overwhelmed with an offer. I don't know if we can provide the high level arm.
  7. How much would it take for you to go to jail for decades? It also then just takes one guy shiving him in the shower for him to not get paid. Easy pass. You could make enough money signing a book deal on the situation after ratting Ohtani out.
  8. Then we'd have to believe that Ohtani is some criminal mastermind who would go from getting in trouble to betting on baseball and ramping it up to straight up murdering someone. concrete shoes neckties high voltage
  9. Maybe, but that's probably a trade I pass on. One arm injury and you are out two franchise pieces.
  10. If Ohtani was doing the gambling, why would the interpreter take the fall for him? It makes no sense. Occam's razor would state that the poorer guy was stealing from the richer guy because he had access to all his funds and trying to live a lavish lifestyle to keep up with everyone around him.
  11. Henry really sees the near future of this time tied up in the big 3. It's cost savings and "sustainability." If a trade makes sense, they shouldn't end those talks IMO. The O's turned their fortunes around with young players, but that doesn't mean it will work as well in BOS.
  12. I do that trade, but I don't think CWS does.
  13. If every star player gets a big contract, it has nothing to do with nuttiness and everything to do with market value.
  14. They have enough real estate around Fenway. Should be ok.
  15. There was a lot good movement down on the farm in pitching development. That's probably where we'll see the greatest strides. In MLB, it'll just be fake it until the better options show up. It was clearly smoke an mirrors at the beginning of the year, but you also have to give Bailey credit for the year that Houck had. He went from being a 4/5 starter or bullpen arm to possibly a #2.
  16. I'm not sure the Rangers are even looking into giving up deGrom, just lesser names that have large dollars attached to them. If that's so, what's the point?
  17. Bello was much better in the 2nd half of the season. We'll see if that can continue into 2025. We saw a big second half from Pivetta in 2023 and there wasn't much of a carryover into the next season.
  18. I looked at their roster and really didn't see a fit. If Lowe was a RHB maybe. Adolis Garcia is just a rollercoaster of a player. His offensive highs and lows would drive us crazy. Pass. The pitchers I've seen mentioned as available don't really improve on what we have and just take away from the ability to acquire top level talent. If they wouldn't sign Eovaldi a few years ago, why go after him now?
  19. If we can't beat 'em on the field, beat 'em with slide rules off the field.
  20. Bloom didn't bring any Rays guys over, so it's hard to compare these moves to what Bloom did or didn't do. I think the Rays have had success acquiring and evaluating talent, so I don't think it's necessarily "let's find people who like pinching pennies."
