  1. I think the Yankees take a slight step back and Fried deals with an injury. O's take a bigger step back. Rays are about the same as relying on returning players doesn't entirely work out this time. Jays get better, but without extending Vlad, there is an air of uncertainty over the org for the year. Sox are a little bit better. Yankees 92 wins O's 86 wins Sox 85 wins Jays 83 wins Rays 79 wins O's end the season with 7 vs the Yanks and 3 vs the Rays. I think the Yanks ease up at home in the final series and the O's sneak into a WC birth in game 162.
  2. SP said over and over again that Zanetello and Antonio Andersen were guys whose development needed to be slow and methodical and pushed through short season (see Keith Law's write up). I'm unsure about what "not old for the level" or "terribly age advance" even means. Each player has different needs for development. Miguel Bleis OPS'd 607 in Low A at age 19 and he's the sixth ranked prospect for some reason.
  3. We've kicked around Masa enough. We're stuck with him and he's going to have his best season in 2025.
  4. He was terrible, but he shouldn't have been in Low A.
  5. a) 5M is being paid by COL b) is anyone penciling Masa in for more than 1 WAR * 3?
  6. We already do that from Thanksgiving on anyway.
  7. Sure? Maybe he wants to hold out and see if a pitcher goes down with an injury and someone else gives him a deal? IDK?
  8. Zanetello still has an outside chance. If MLB hadn't messed up MiLB a few years ago, he would have started in Lowell and maybe his development track would look better. I'd dump Jordan.
  9. They'd give up a 3 WAR player they are paying 25M (CBT), to take on a 1.5 WAR player at 12M who can only DH? How does this help them? Masa has been worth 11.3M his entire career. Why pay him 12M annually? Over that same time period, Arenado has been worth 23.4M each season. His contract makes sense. Masa's doesn't. Sox would have to eat 2/3's of the contract for it to be worth it.
  10. Law has an interesting take on Monegro and Paez, but then calls Early's FB "meh." What a weirdo. Monegro's FB issues aren't a lack of confidence, but shape. Paez just doesn't throw hard consistently and can't miss bats with it. SoxProspects is higher on Early and believes he has the higher ceiling of the three.
  11. C'mon. STL wants to drop salary, not take on more. Please join us in the real world.
  12. If he's a 3 WAR guy, they should just take the whole contract and not give up anything of value if they can.
  13. Excuse me. Where is the Cardinals prospect that they are supposed to be giving us?!?!?!?! And the Sox have to give up a high draft pick from a few years ago? WTH?!?!?!?
  14. Tries to save face. Doesn't.
  15. 1. Baltimore slander is tired. Ravens slander is fine. 2. Spring Training games are great to watch. I'll try to go to a few. 3. Rusney was only good enough to be called up to be a 5th OFer so I don't really feel all that bad about it. 4. Thinking that if things break right for the Sox that they will win the division is WILD to me. Even if Roman and Kristian start off strong, I think they still won't be 4-5 WAR game changing type guys this year. 5. Even if Grissom is getting jacked, he should just be pushed to the OF. If so, does that help with the RHB out there? 6. Bloom did a great job of building an offensive farm system. However, he struggled building a pitching infrastructure and could not keep the MLB team competitive. He dragged his feet on making trades (had an offer to move Sale that would pay 100% of his salary and didn't pull the trigger), signed some bad FA deals (Story/Masa), went over the CBT on a last place team and those issues hurt the Sox in the long run. If he was running the Rockies, he would be commended. For running the Sox, he gets fired. The Sox need to at least be in playoff contention and not last place 3 out of 4 years.
  16. I will assume that he signs a deal before then. At worst, he should re-sign with the Sox as a reliever on a one year deal.
  17. No, they are just going to give a 3 fWAR guy over for free, pay part of his salary AND provide a prospect according to moon!
  18. He's not a FA today. You need to get him from another team. It's two different scenarios. I'm not happy about paying his current deal, but it's not onerous.
  19. Per MLB: Players who are unsigned after the start of the MLB Draft in the year that follows the rejection of their qualifying offer are no longer tied to Draft pick compensation and can be signed without their new club needing to forfeit a Draft pick.
  20. With how his defense is, he'd be a 2 win player with an OPS+ around 90 IMO. JBJ was 2-3 WAR when his OPS+ floated around 90.
  21. Unsigned players with projected 2+ fWAR: Bregman Alonso Pivetta All three have QO's attached to them.
  22. Cards are trying to DUMP salary. They have no interest in taking on Story's salary or lateral moves.
  23. His contract is underwater, but that doesn't mean your proposed trade is going to happen. I'm projecting his production to fall to 2 WAR. ZiPS has him at 3 for this year. That's an 8M difference in valuation. STL isn't just going to dump him and give a player so that you can take him. He still has some value. At 25M AAV, it's about a wash if he's going to be a 3 WAR player. Personally, I would give him a 3/48 deal if he was a FA.
