    There are studies that say momentum doesn't matter, but if this offense isn't hitting now, I don't believe it will just start hitting once the pitching gets tougher.

    Romy's defense isn't good enough to play anywhere but 1B. His chase/whiff rate is way too high for what this offense is trying to do. The only saving grace is that he has another option available next season. There are worse players to stash in WOO than Romy.

    Mead will be on the Opening Day roster no matter what. He's cheap. Even if he's just a parttime player or DH, it may still not be the end of the world. They have lots of control over him so a long time to figure it out. One likely scenario: Sox deal Masa and eat all his salary Duran LF Roman DH Mead 2B Arias is waiting in the wings to be injury replacement for Story or 2b. Could move Mead to DH if Roman or an OFer gets hurt. With a weird lockout offseason, the likelihood of somebody getting injured early on seems high.

    The vibes are gone. They aren't stacking hits anymore. When you have guys with in zone contact issues, it doesn't move runners along. This definitely feels more like the APR/MAY offense than the summer offense.

    He's played much more 3b in is professional career. Small sample sizes can be very wonky with defensive metrics. I'm just going by the reports I heard at the time of the trade. I've barely seen the guy play.

    All I've said is that I want to see him do it again before I'm convinced he's a 850 OPS guy. For someone who had a career 617 OPS prior to 2026, I think it's fine to be a little skeptical. A lot of players have come out of nowhere to have a good to great season and then have disappeared again. He made some adjustments over the offseason, let's see if it continues to work out for him in '27. I'm just not penciling him in as a plus bat just yet.

    Playoff teams in the bottom 5 in Runs in September: 29th HOU 30th BOS I guess if the Sox somehow fall to the 6th seed, it could be the most unwatchable playoff series we've seen in many, many years.

    If the Red Sox win one more game, they automatically clinch the 5th seed. If the Sox lose out and tie CLE and CHW in the standings, they'll get the 6th seed.

    He stated that if his family asked him to retire, that he would without question. Not sure if he's really looking for a bunch of years at this point.

    He's not an option for SS and he's considered to be a below average 2B for a team that prioritizes defense. IMO, he can play a few positions (2b/3b), but mainly in a reserve role. In a perfect world, he's the everyday DH and has an OPS matching last year's total.

    Jones has been ok. He was really hot early on. I'm not sure I'd keep him around for '27. He's not the greatest platoon bat I've seen. Pay a tiny bit more and you can get a bigger return. I think this is clearly the high water mark for Gasper. It's a fun ride, but I wouldn't pencil him for a 26 man spot next season. To me, he's still a AAAA guy. Fun story though.

    Duran has two more years before a QO decision. If they are crazy enough to give him a QO after '28, we'll collectively lose our minds.

    Arozarena is a fun player. I think he'll get overpaid somewhere. He doesn't pull the ball enough or play good defense to be a big investment for BOS.

    He doubled his barrel rate. He doubled his bb rate. Maybe he has turned the corner in his career, but I just can't count on it. He needs to show that he can do it again before I'm fully onboard. His exit velo and bat speed is mediocre. He clearly made the most out of his AB's. We'll see.

    If there aren't playoff implications, there's a good chance they just cancel the game and the Sox only play 161.
