  1. But what if there are injuries!!! That's what I'm hearing about the reason for keeping Masa. Why worry about the other 5 if one could go down?
  2. If the Sox were really concerned about Mayer and thought he needed to spend the year in AAA, they would have traded him for Marte.
  3. It went unaddressed as they added nothing to the bullpen except an underperforming Ryan Watson who may be sent back to whatever team they Rule 5 picked him from.
  4. If he's healthy, he's better than Masa without question.
  5. He's playing LF instead of DH because Japan has a better hitter at DH than Masa. Same thing would happen with the Sox if they put Duran/Abreu/Anthony at DH instead of Masa. All those 3 guys are vastly superior at fielding though.
  6. They are going to keep Early and Tolle down in AAA until they earn the extra year of control.
  7. Masa backup DH Wong 2nd C IKF backup IF Eaton/Monasterio What a great bench! Really helpful in a late inning scenario.
  8. An injury or two changes things for any ballclub. An injury to Aaron Judge and the Yankees are a below .500 team.
  9. Yeah, because in that case Eaton would be playing the OF and you'd one of the other guys DH'ing (Duran). Eaton had a 102 wRC+ and can field all 3 OF positions. Masa can only play a very poor LF and is projected to have a 98-111 wRC+. I'd rather have Eaton on the roster if I'm the manager based on his skillset.
  10. If they wanted that, they should have done a deal before the Sox started speaking with the Brewers. 🫠 Sox don't really need to be in a hurry now. They have a full IF. They could carry Jarren/Anthony as LF/DH. HOU needs this trade more than the Sox do.
  11. I think the Sox are confident in Mayer. They are just trying to really PUSH him this spring.
  12. Probably staying back at the Fort to continue to work on his swing. I think completely revamping his swing mechanics is going to take a lot out of him and add a lot of work early on. He's had some good EV's here and there, but his XBH's have all been 80ish mph and the overall results haven't been great. A lot of people are rooting for him, but it's going to take time.
  13. We've seen bad trades before. Maybe some GM can do one of those for us!
  14. Oh, the you still have 3 other OFers in front of Masa and Nate Eaton. Once Romy comes back, Masa is behind him as well.
  15. Trade! Trade! Trade! Trade! Trade!
  16. Looks like Bleis will be getting some action today.
  17. Rosenthal said the Astros could try to spring up the Paredes negotiations again. At this point, I'm not sure how far it would go. Sox already have Durbin, Story and Mayer. Are they willing to sit Mayer for the full year? Make Durbin a part time player?
  18. JH would prefer A. I think a "no real return" is a guy like Delzine TBH. We've seen these DSL pitchers go all over the place in the rankings the last few years (see: Dalvinson Reyes ranked #21 on 4/25 to unranked now). Fans would prefer B, but this team is too budget conscious for that.
  19. They better hope that he absolutely goes OFF in the WBC and in April. Maybe someone will bite and they can deal off 50% of it. Maybe...
  20. I don't, no. I think it's clear that if Casas or Romy get healthy, Masa's time with the Sox will be compromised to a permanent end.
  21. He lost rookie eligibility last season. He's a big boy now.
