  1. 2x as important? That's crazy. Equally important or close to? Sure. The Sox getting like 14 singles and trying to win a game is wild. Need to throw some doubles in there if you're not hitting dingers. Not hitting doubles at Fenway is a nasty bit of business. I don't know if it's just a 2 month slump or if there is some serious rot in the hitting infrastructure. Losing Bregman shouldn't make them this bad. We all expected them to drop a little, but YUCK.
  2. Their OBP is 15th. It's mediocre! Top 11 OBP teams are all 100 wRC+ teams or better.
  3. In the 3 years of Butch Hobson's reign, only 8 hitters had over 1 fWAR: Valentin 10.1 Mo 6.2 Cooper 6 Scott Fletcher 4.5 Greenwell 3.4 (always injured at this point) Naehring 2.5 Bruno 2.1 Boggs 1.5 (one season) BOS 24th in wRC+ 87 '92-94
  4. 8-11 since he left. It's not like they are getting better without him.
  5. Turkey is where everyone goes to get their hair transplants. Just like Brez. My family wants to untransition. 🙃
  6. Though the Hobson Sox weren't powerhouses offensively!
  7. The go-go Red Sox as one local sportscaster tried to call them (Lobel? Neumy?).
  8. Breslow did a bad job and needed to acquire more power. The bullpen was completely ignored. Crochet is injured. Anthony is injured. Durbin stinks. Mayer should be in AAA. Duran started off this season ice cold. Story is injured unsurprisingly and was bad.
  9. But saying all along that Breslow ignored the bullpen is still complaining that Breslow did a bad job? That's not covering for him or saying his approach was good.
  10. Duran is 30 at the end of the year. I don't know where he'll be playing in a few years. He already went through a big slump to start this season. If his speed or athleticism starts to dip, it's over for him. I don't think he's productive in years 4 and 5 TBH.
  11. You want me to rank the entire roster and how they'll perform over the next five years over XBH? No. 1. Rafaela 2. Anthony 3. Abreu 4. Duran 5. Mayer (only because I believe he'll be a starter that long)
  12. If they traded him, the return isn't that great to begin with. You are only dealing him if you're making room for a guy you want to see on the team. With Story on the IL and Durbin/Mayer struggles, there's enough room to bring other guys up to see how they are anyway.
  13. How much would they eat? IDK. I think they should keep Devers and deal Adames and Chapman who are much older.
  14. Sogard is the glue. This offense is nothing without Sogard. This offense also really misses Romy and Refsnyder TBH.
  15. I don't know which ballpark Duran will be playing in so it's hard to project. Total Bases: Wilyer XBH: Rafaela
  16. 897 OPS in May. He'll be fine if he keeps hitting. Mar/Apr is historically his worst OPS month. Dude doesn't take his offseason seriously. Then he mashes in May - end of Summer.
  17. Just don't get too excited about the GRE numbers. Tiny ballparks and very bad pitching at that level. If you look at the league wide numbers, it's pretty rough in that league this year. We'll see what these guys can do once promoted to AA.
  18. That's still basically 4 years of service time. C'mon man. He's a guy you need to be relying on. He should be a leader now. We can't keep looking at these guys and saying "well, they're young." At some point, they need to step up!
