    But he hit really bad in April 2026 when he always hits poorly! That means he should stink forever going forward. My point with Casas has always been that it depends on how he returns from his injury. If he is not hampered by his injury, he can get back to '23 Casas. If he has an issue with his legs, it could seriously alter his career going forward as it would zap his power. Until we see him in games, it's hard to say what he'll do. Tools wise, I'd take him above a lot of other hitters on this team.

    Yeah, it's not an IL stint. Sorry. He's either healthy enough to play in games or he isn't. Masa played DH in ST then went on IL because he couldn't throw. He came off the IL to go play DH again. It should have been a MLBPA grievance IMO.

    Yeah, they jumped the gun on that extension. I hope it works out in favor of the Sox. If not, good for Kristian.

    It's a bidding war after he clears waivers. If he can't be DFA'd based on his contract and is straight released, then teams could in theory bid against each other. Unlikely! If teams would pay more than the minimum, he would have been dealt.

    Campbell should be better eventually, but he hasn't shown it yet. He needs to actually start hitting in AAA before anyone thinks he can be better than anyone that has shown success at the big league level over a full season like Casas.

    He was fine swinging a bat. They sent him to AAA because he couldn't play OF. Like what???

    Having 4 starting OFers and parking a DH on the bench with Casas rehabbing with no clear path to playing time if he's healthy is bad team building.

    If Masa is DFA'd, he'll either go back to Japan or grab a one year MLB minimum deal to play at his preferred location. No way is he signing a multi-year deal right after being DFA'd.

    14 of his 20 HR's were hit at launching pads for LHBs: PHI (3), LAD (6), COL (3), NYY (2). Him being able to perform at Fenway was not a given.

    I think the first impressions of him hitting 823 in April are what stuck in many people's minds. My other guess is that some of the writers just really don't pay attention to the prospects. Every national listing that I found (SoxProspects, MLB, FanGraphs, etc.) has Yophery outside the top 30 for the Sox. TalkSox having him at #16 shows a big flaw in our ranking system.

    Verdugo was a SSS mirage in 2020. That year was awful and we didn't have anything to be hopeful for. A guy like him was never going to be successful long term in Boston. That's why Cora was so frustrated with him all the time. He could have built a career for himself but threw it away instead.

    If you're looking for a DH, you cross your fingers and hope Casas gets healthy. That's a much better option than weak hitting Masa.

    Not sure I want Masa in the field for a long period of time. He has bad range, bad speed and a horrible arm. Eaton is closer to average across the board with elite sprint speed.

    I think we should be past the hype on Bleis. He hasn't put up 750 OPS since '22 in FCL. Having him or Cespedes ahead of Allan Castro doesn't make much sense to me anymore. Those two haven't shown anything. Castro keeps showing up, getting on base and moving up the ladder. The ceiling for Bleis may be higher, but it's been over 3 years of disappointment. Castro is only 9 months older than Bleis FWIW.

    Better option for what? Eaton is a bench player that fills in for late inning purposes or when a player needs a breather. Masa can't do that.

    Beautiful swing though! Can't wait to see all those grounders to the right side of the IF this summer. 🥰
