Somebody didn't read Stats Masterson's article!
“I can’t believe they are content going with so many [Triple-A] players — utility infielders — at the bottom of the lineup,” said one evaluator.
“I’m still confused on the Red Sox roster construction and truthfully how they thought it would turn out any different than it has. The holes that were there at the start of the season are still there,” said another.
What if they added MORE underwater contracts, such that they had another nightmare scenario 2-3 years from now and couldn't add more players even if Roman became a star player! Wouldn't that be great?
They are beyond Bill Mueller's help now. They'd need 04: Manny, Papi and Tek now to get them back. Manny would probably just head to WOO for the summer though.
Johanfran Garcia (too bad the glove isn't very good)
May 863 OPS
June 1212 OPS
Franklin Arias still has a 990 OPS. Wonder if they are getting him more reps as SS in POR and treating WOO as the BOS taxi squad. Probably keeping Arias away from MLB for this year. Maybe a callup after the AA ASG? Not sure he has anything left to prove there. He's also young for the league too.
D'Angelo Ortiz hit his first pro tater last night.
Jack Winnay (needs to move off 3b)
May 1113 OPS
June 1027 OPS
Time for a promotion to AA.
Not to me. I was talking about WS winners. I don't care about LOSERS. I want my team to win the WS, not place. I'm not out here celebrating '86 over and over again.
I guess Theo was advising Breslow, or at least in the room, during the last trade deadline. Don't know how much it helps. Maybe Breslow doesn't listen? Maybe other GM's just don't take him seriously so deals can't get over the finish line? Hard to say. It's just not working though.
Maybe that's a mistake that the Sox will admit and move on from? We'll see. I think they are stuck with that mistake unless they have an internal candidate or have been talking to people on the side. Henry isn't good at being sneaky though. He clomps around like an elephant. If he was talking to people outside the org, we'd be hearing about it.
Breslow is the one determining that the everyone in the org has to pull the ball in the air. That's not Driveline. Driveline is just following orders. Breslow and his spreadsheets are why Durbin couldn't buy a hit earlier in the year.
