  1. There's generally a premium on pitching at the deadline, not on hitting like Contreras. I don't think the Sox would get a ton a value for the Contreras with 2.5 years vs Chapman with 1.5 years or Gray with .5 years. I guess it all depends on what the needs are of the contenders at the time. Usually it's pitching though!
  2. I'd keep him because they have him for '27 with a club option for '28. Gray is a goner though.
  3. Just start agreeing with all my posts. It'd be easier on both of us.
  4. Durbin has now added ANOTHER hitting coach to the mix, Aaron Judge's hitting coach (TikTok famous Teacherman1986).
  5. I think Eyanson is probably undervalued ATM on BTV. I don't think they do a great job at valuing guys who don't already have established MLB careers. Who else? I'd go with any 2 guys from 15 and below. A lot less value now that this year is shot for both teams.
  6. He's also a supremely cooler ballplayer and more fun to watch.
  7. If Contreras hit in Alonso's spot on the O's, he'd have more RBI than Alonso.
  8. If they need thump, it's not Braiden Ward. He'd be one of the 3 weakest hitters in MLB.
  9. Red Sox DHs have a 626 OPS this year. Even though Devers has struggled, he'd be better than the slop we have now.
  10. Do you still need help finding his OBP?
  11. Pitching and defense didn't work this year. What if they tried to buy bunting and stolen bases this offseason? 🤩
  12. I've said going back to the offseason that Contreras would have a higher fWAR than Alonso. If they were to acquire both and put Alonso at DH, fine.
  13. Is Crochet coming back as soon as Skubal is?
  14. He is dealing with a foot problem so I think they are intentionally going easy on him.
  15. Why are the Tigers trading their starting 1b when they are actually in the playoff hunt and Skubal is coming back?
  16. I don't think anyone believes he's a magician. Pitchers have left and improved. Sox are just tweaking guys and adding velo. There's no secret sauce.
  17. Give Early the rest of the season this year and his fWAR will look like Bello's previous few years. Bello is a back end starter, which you said "was perfectly fine for him to settle into at 9M." If it was fine for him to be paid as a back end guy at 9M in 24, why dump him now? He's been a guy that you can rely on to be out there just about 30 G every year unlike the majority of pitchers. Everyone is NOT healthy and Gray will not be returning next season. I'm also not sold on Jake Bennett as a starter. I think the rotation is Crochet/Suarez/Tolle/Early/Bello. We've seen Bello be successful this season. The Sox just have to unlock whatever is going on with him.
  18. I think Bo has an opt out and he'd be pretty crappy at Fenway IMO. He doesn't pull the ball and has a high GB rate. Can't have a high $$$ guy like that putting up years like 24 and 26 TBH.
  19. I can't believe Devers told everyone that Breslow needs to start doing his job... I'm just getting word in that Breslow has in fact not been doing his job for the past 15 months or so... Tough look in hindsight.
