    Getting Murphy would barely move the needle on offense while giving up on a young pitcher who has a cheap, cost controlled contract. Crazy.

    He was 53rd out of 106 qualified starters in fWAR from 23-25. If that's not quality, I don't know what to tell you. Is he a #2? No! He's fine for a backend guy, which is just what posters were telling me was fine for his dumb extension. He's underpaid! He's actually a bargain! I've been told that hundreds of times on here. You've made that argument. Now you want to dump him because he's not pitching well for a few months? Crazy. Barely more fWAR than Early? Include Early's numbers from this year and they still don't add up to Bello's fWAR from last season.

    Breslow knew power was a problem going into the offseason and wasn't able to do anything about it. He pivoted to a pitching and defense team. Why? The spreadsheet didn't account for the home games being played at Fenway Park! 🤓

    Bello struggling for 2 months shouldn't be a reason to give up on him. He's been a quality starter for the past few years. If the pitching dev can't fix him, than Breslow, Bailey, et al really are lost.

    With Catcher, I'm fine with a good glove guy TBH. Narvaez was fine! What's the big deal? Fix MIF! Make sure Durbin can actually hit! Maybe move him to 2b and find a power bat for 3b? DH?

    SoxProspects curse. A guy who was rocketed to the top of the rankings while still in the DSL just because someone's eyeballs popped out of their heads due to the heat (see also: Gilberto Jimenez, Miguel Bleis, Antoni Flores, Luis Alexander Basabe, Oscar Tejada).

    Why add an expensive Sean Murphy? He hasn't hit since '23? There's nothing to say that he'll do anything of note going forward.

    Scouts knew Murakami had MLB power. They questioned the hit tool. Masa doesn't have enough power for MLB.

    The Sox could have signed Murakami for cheap, but were too worried about everyone's k% because what the spreadsheet said. They needed power, he has it. They got Contreras instead, which has worked out, but Murakami could be around longer.

    Argument for Arias: better contact rates than Mayer and Campbell and much better defense than Campbell Argument against Arias: he's only 20 so there's no reason to rush him right now, especially with a team that absolutely blows and Arias's ceiling isn't the same as Roman's ceiling, he's just projected to be an everyday regular not an All Star

    It's the same reason Roman Anthony hurt himself swinging the bat. If every swing is a swing to hit the ball 500 ft, players are going to get hurt more often.
