  1. I think people get excited to see guys called up because you just want to see what it will look like at the MLB level. With Mayer, there wasn't a real long look at any level and it's not like he was busting down the door anyway.
  2. 245 is probably a lot closer than his listed 210 on MiLB.com. He's a well built dude. He's always had light tower power. Struggled with injuries due to being behind the plate.
  3. They have had guys on the 40 man roster all season long they could have brought up. This team is out of contention. They are closer to last place in AL than a WC. Do what's right for the team. Just swap out Mayer with Cheng and move on with the season.
  4. It should if the guy doesn't have a long contract and the Red Sox stink this year and they want to be good in future years.
  5. We've already seen Devers be great at Fenway and know SF is a terrible hitters park. Marte is already in a hitters park. Bichette wasn't a great fit for Fenway because of his swing. Wrigley isn't a great place for RHB and Breggie is still pulling the ball like he did at Fenway (much higher away OPS). I think his numbers pick up eventually. He may not go on a tear like he did early in '25 though.
  6. The knock on him going into 2025 was that he struggled against offspeed pitching. Vs MLB Offspeed Pitching 2025 17.3% of pitches, 125 BA, 292 SLG, 214 wOBA 2026 27.7% of pitches, 116 BA, 140 SLG, 163 wOBA He just wasn't ready for the pitching from day one.
  7. Did I say they did it with the INTENT to do it later? No. The other teams did recognize that the player wasn't progressing and needed additional time in AAA though!
  8. Mayer for Jeremy Pena straight up.
  9. Dominguez and Jones spent a ton of time in AAA this season. Holliday was sent down to AAA after struggling. Something Marcelo probably needs to do as well!!! Sox didn't have that in their plans. Maybe they should see how other orgs are handling their players?
  10. We come up with loads of stupid options around here.
  11. That's why you get someone that can "actually" do internal messaging, not whatever the Sox are doing right now.
  12. Lawlar was moved out of the IF because of some real bad defense down the stretch run last year. No, he can't play SS at the MLB level.
  13. Internal communication doesn't matter I guess?
  14. No, just NIghtengale. Local writers have said opposite.
  15. I don't think he'll be CBO, but I think he should step into the LL role.
  16. 2-0 W 5/8 vs TBR Early 1-0 W 4/17 vs DET Suarez (Masa walkoff) What a terrible plan. Not enough LH relievers IMO!
  17. He was a top 20 prospect (BA) for a long, long time, but I don't think some people were reading the scouting report.
  18. My son loves to surf. He's at the beach and the waves are perfect. For all we know, he's just sitting there not surfing!
  19. If he's hitting a bunch of doubles and Fenway is a doubles park, why would we speculate on him doing worse? That makes no sense!
  20. He needs to hire a personable GM that can actually speak with people. He needs his own Sam Kennedy, but a guy that's not sleazy.
  21. What we said was "that's the Red Sox's plan" not that it's what they should do. Nobody said don't get Parades AND Durbin. Red Sox were openly saying that he was going to be on the roster. They weren't saying that he was competing for a spot, which they should have been. Also, I was always under the assumption that they would try not to go over the 2nd CBT threshold. They are right around it now and will try to get underneath it. What's the point in saying "they should go out and have a 400M payroll" when you know the confines Henry puts on the team? I would have rather them spent the Suarez or Gray money on another bat. If they didn't deal Gray, they'd still have another depth starter. Maybe it prevents them from trading for Durbin and they have even more depth pieces.
