Will his production decrease in close and late situations at Fenway or will his anger get him locked in? Also, please power rank the wave, beach balls and Sweet Caroline. 3. On the very first mailbag, I asked if Mayer should be sent to AAA to fix his offensive issues. You stated that he was better off learning against MLB pitching. On last week’s podcast, you advocated for him to spend the rest of the season in AAA because he was rushed. What did you see over the course of the next few weeks that changed your mind?

    Fenway is a better park for his swing. He got lucky.

    I think people were hoping for a larger trade, but this was the highest price point Breslow wanted to go. Mead wasn’t the guy I wanted and I have questions about his defense. The bat should be ok. If he ends up being a platoon DH, it’s not worth it. Can’t say I’m an expert on Nats players.

    Pull heavy approach is good. Not sure where he winds up defensively. It’s a fair trade for Early who is a 4th starter. Sox can develop a bunch of those. Bennett and Tolle have shown much higher ceilings.

    The only questions about his commitment to rehab are coming from outside the organization. The Red Sox had him swing when they thought it was about pain tolerance. It made his injury worse.

    Bruml and others have said that once a player reaches AAA, they are ready for MLB. They see AAA as MLB depth and not for further development.

    KC is trying to build a new stadium. Dumping your franchise player while doing so is really bad for business.

    I think it's less about getting the fanbase geeked up and more about driving the Neto price up with other teams.
