    With Adley, it's hard to figure out how he fell off. He's always been a lower exit velo guy who doesn't hit the ball hard. He had great results the first two seasons and was towards the top of the league in bb rate. The only change I can notice is that he really stopped mashing the 4 seamer. He went from having a 900 OPS in '22-'23 to 700 OPS the last two seasons. Per xWOBA and xSLG, it could just be bad luck? He looked like Johnny Bench his first season, but has really fallen off since then (including defense).

    We haven't seen those guys play in NPB parks and face weaker pitching though. Monasterio could be great in the WBC too!

    I think the Sox have two long term options in front of them if they are holding onto Mayer. 2028: Mayer 2B, Arias SS Godbout 2B, Mayer SS It may just depend on how the prospects develop over the next 18 months.

    Ward is not competing for an Opening Day roster spot. He could hit .500 with his IF dinks and dunks and it's not going to get him a spot.

    He just completely changed his swing mechanics so he's going to need considerable time in AAA no matter what.

    Should have just tried to have a conversation with Devers last offseason about moving to 1b rather than all the smokescreen about Breggie being a 2b. I think Devers will be a fine 1b. 🫠

    I just don't think an Abreu for Paredes trade makes sense due to the additional 2 years of control. Sox aren't in a hurry to move an OFer now. HOU would have to really wow Breslow with an offer for Abreu. HOU just had Pena hurt his finger. Deal probably doesn't get done.

    I think with the IKF signing, they are showing that they are trying to maximize IF defense. Durbin was an above average 3b. Story was good at SS until the EOY. Mayer should be well above average 2b. Contreras is an above average 1b. If they swapped Story and Mayer, it would be a very good defense for sure.

    If he had a second tool, it would make sense. He only contacts the ball. That's it. For a bench guy, that's not great. Contact with speed or defense? Great! Maybe if he had an unbelievable platoon split you'd hold onto him, but it's not the case.

    He needs more than a few days to get passable at 2b! -16 DRS, -8 OAA, -10 FRV Mike Moustakas played a better 2b! Travis Shaw played a better 2b!
