Should, but not when you are looking at how the talent is playing on the field. If the offense is 30th in runs in September, seems unlikely they are going to do damage in the WC round!

They need to take a good hard look and determine who is going to be around for the next several years. Anyone who they can't build around for 3-4 years (and rely on!) shouldn't be a part of the plan. Make trades to extend the window. Players that could be gone after next season: Masa, Story, Conteras, Chapman, Whitlock, Houck, Rutschman, Oviedo That's a huge turnover that doesn't even include a guy like Duran who people have soured on and Gray who seems like he doesn't want to be here going forward. They need to really figure out what this competitive window is and who should be included. They can't play it by ear year to year. There needs to be a real plan as their prospect pipeline has dried up and they no longer have the assets to deal from. This FO isn't able to successfully manage the FA market! How will they build the next WS team?

Pitching and defense isn't what allowed the Yankees to beat the Sox down. NYY 26 H BOS 7 H Sox went all in on pitching and defense and the pitching and defense didn't show up when it mattered. The way to actually win is to be a well rounded team. You need to be top 10 at all facets of the game, not top 5 pitching/defense and bottom 5 offense.

The winning streak was the worst thing for the franchise as they played over their heads and the FO bought in on fool's gold rather than selling.

Easy to blame Adley for never catching Crochet before. In the gamethread, people were complaining that Adley wasn't hustling to the ball. What? The play was fine. The ball just hit the dirt and took a bad bounce. It happens. How about Crochet getting anyone else out?

Yup, the better options failed at other times. Maybe you have Sonny finish the inning and have Ranger finish the whole game? Aside from that, you need to rely on those bullpen arms at some point and none of them worked out.

Those people on the airwaves know even less ball than the people who thought bringing in injured players to win a postseason series was going to work. -
A lot of people on here thought he was coming in as a shutdown reliever. "Why are they bringing Miller in? They should bring in Crochet instead!" Miller wasn't great, but he was a better option than Crochet like I said going into the series.

October is the postseason. November will be business as usual for departing FA's, but there will be less moves at the GM meetings. December 1st will be a lockout. Yay.

Sox tried relying on injured players coming back healthy to get them through a playoff run. They predictably faceplanted. We saw it all September. They were the walking wounded. They couldn't hit a lick. The season was on borrowed time. Blaming Tracy for them losing is just cope. They were going to lose no matter how it was managed.

True! Sox had the #1 pen ERA in MLB in the regular season. Gotta trust that they can get you through it. They crapped out in the postseason.

Tolle had traffic all game long. The batters that were coming up had good AB's against him. Not sure he would have fared much better than Miller TBH.

Tracy was just following Breslow's gameplan. It was actually a gameplan that many have used in the playoffs prior to this year. I think the issue is that the bullpen just didn't have the horses by the time the postseason came around. Maybe it works better if Guerrero was healthy? I think you'll see Kevin Cash and David Roberts manage very similarly.
