  1. No, but they won 98 games in '04 and 96 in '07. Winning 86 games isn't going to get it done. It's not enough!
  2. I have standards. Winning a WS is important. That should be the end goal. They should be working towards that, not towards a team that is endlessly fighting for a 3rd place finish (which is what they'd be doing if they continue on their current path and don't sell when able).
  3. Listen, 26 games that were played in March and April can definitively show that this dude FLIPPITY FLOPPED!!!
  4. I prefer a team that wins the AL East and has a real shot at the WS. If it's not that, what's even the point? Scraping and fighting to get to 86 wins and the third playoff spot? Pass. Not good enough.
  5. I guess we can throw out the 71 games last year because of 30 games from this year. Makes sense!!! So smart!
  6. No cap, but if there's a CBT tax, there should be a CBT floor tax where you lose a % of revenue sharing if you don't put enough back into payroll.
  7. Durbin should be better than a 500 OPS going forward. How much better? IDK.
  8. The worst part of the whole deal TBH!
  9. Bloom tried blowing it up in '22 and either he or ownership got cold feet.
  10. Some people prefer third place ceilings and it shows.
  11. Anthony is hurt. Is he supposed to put up good numbers when he's hurt? 🤔 Don't remember you calling him Little Anthony last season when he was mashing. 😎
  12. You'd rather they keep rolling these guys out there? Let Chapman, Gray, Contreras all be gone after 2027 without anything to show for it?
  13. 2nd worst record in the AL, but only 4.5 GB of the WC. It's not "parity," it's a watered down playoffs. They just need to sell. If they get a good offer from somebody, don't hang up the phone.
  14. They weren't really "forced to" per se, but were getting a lot of crap from other owners and the union from not spending. They intended to reach 100m in '25, but only got to 95m. This year they got to around 120m, I think. They are really just doing it for PR purposes while they are in the process of moving.
  15. Brez didn't say which team he'd be preventing runs for.
  16. If you want to feel really low today, Braden Montgomery hit a walk off tater in his first MLB game last night.
  17. Red Sox: Make everyone pull the ball in the air. Kyle Boddy: Are you sure? If that's what you want. It's not my preferred brand of baseball, but you're paying me.
  18. So mutual option if under 40 innings. Guaranteed contract if over 40 innings.
  19. This is what Christopher Smith says on MassLive: Chapman’s contract has a 2027 vesting option if he reaches 40 innings and is healthy at the end of the 2026 season. The vesting option, valued at $13 million, becomes a mutual option if it doesn’t vest. He needs 20 ⅓ more innings for the option to vest and is on pace to pitch 48 ⅓ innings this season.
