  1. I couldn't tell if the poster was making a joke or not. If it was a joke, it would have been better to leave off the 30 games. KC looked like dog water in ST that year and then signed the extension at the beginning of April. It was clear that it had been agreed to prior, but they just wanted him on the Opening Day roster and needed to delay the extension for PPI reasons.
  2. Sure, but there is a bigger need for a platoon at 2b. Only being able to field one IF position isn't all that helpful. Unless they really believe in Eaton's bat over Monasterio's, it's probably Monasterio. Notin calls it a no brainer because that's how we talk about things on here. Even if it's a 80/20 decision, he may call it a no brainer.
  3. He got paid for how he looked the prior year in MiLB. His good 30 games came after the extension.
  4. If Johanfran doesn't work out, that '22 class is a big time whiff. The top of the '24 class was a nightmare with the top 3 guys already out of baseball. Asencio was placed on the restricted list for undisclosed reasons and ever returned. The volatility of those signings is why there needs to be a better balance with how the Sox draft stateside. Can't rely on IFA guys IMO.
  5. Two more ST games to close it out. Sox have already won the Mayor's Cup clinching it with 5 wins (up 5-1). I'm sure Mayor Anderson has already prepared his speech for Tuesday.
  6. Doesn't make much sense to keep Eaton on the roster as they don't really need 6 OFers. Monasterio is a better fit IMO.
  7. Career 696 OPS in MiLB. Nothing to him except that he can play nearly every position. Every org has a few guys like that.
  8. Thaiss, he has an upward mobility clause five days prior to Opening Day. Cotillo also notes that Thaiss would make a salary of $1.3MM if added to the roster. When an upward mobility clause is triggered, a player is offered up to the other 29 clubs in the league. If any of them are willing to give the player a roster spot, then the signing club has to either give him a roster spot themselves or trade him to another club that will. If no club offers him a roster spot, then he can be sent to the minors as non-roster depth. Today is 6 days until Opening Day.
  9. Dean - 5th round '22 Miller - 9th round '21 DeLeon 1.2M signing Cruz 150k signing Lugo 125k signing Teran 35k signing
  10. Hickey only had 26 innings at C last season. Gasper is more likely a backup C than Hickey at this point and is already on the 40 man.
  11. Wild season already.
  12. Yeah, he probably should have just retired in 79.
  13. It has some good pizza from what I remember.
