    Nah, that's not a good analogy as a lifeboat only prevents a passenger from dying rather than getting to their destination on time. This would be like if every ocean liner had an empty liner behind it just in case it broke down so that all the passengers could disembark. The lifeboats are Tyler McDonough and other guys that are barely good enough for AAA and should never get a call to MLB.

    Cora has also benched Masa for extended periods even when he's been swinging the bat well. Hard to say what the plan will be.

    Sox needed pitching and liked his pitch mix. They probably could have traded for him using a much lesser prospect though. Tibbs wasn't hitting well in POR, but was trying to adjust his mechanics to the Sox program and didn't have a long leash. It's clear that the guy can hit. Maybe they just thought he was really low on the depth chart? They probably would have dealt him by now, but I think it would have been better to get more than Dustin May out of the deal.
