  1. He's caught a total of 30 innings the past two seasons combined.
  2. We know the reason: they were valuing him as a 6-7 win player. Nobody else believes he's that good.
  3. Dodger Stadium is even more of a HR friendly park than Sacramento. We'll see if the Sox bats can stay hot (5th in HR since July 4th).
  4. Craig will still hold out for too much unless Henry is finally over it. He should be! The time to trade him was after '24. The next best time was last offseason. You're just cutting your losses now. The looks on the guys in the dugout last night after his blowup was just disheartening. You can't keep him around if you want to go on a run.
  5. But Duran was good 2 years ago! Dude is a headcase on and off the field. He has no interest in helping himself and fixing the situation. Because of this, he's stuck in a slump he'll never pull himself out of. He should have been traded for whatever someone else was willing to give. I know players will try to rally around him rather than throw him under the bus, but you can't win with a guy like that on your team. Too many outbursts. Too many changes to his swing. It's just not worth it.
  6. Trade Duran for prospects. Then. Now. Forever.
  7. He has more RBI than every Red Sox not named Willson.
  8. 1. I don't think catchers typically get better on defense after they get into MLB, especially a guy like Goodman. Saying "it's something a teams can work on" is really underselling the task. 2. Is it a one for one trade? Ok. If not, it depends on the pieces going the other way.
  9. Ronny Hernandez is more of a 1B/DH type too. Only a 1/3 of his starts are a C and his scouting reports behind the dish are bad.
  10. I'm glad I spent the rest of the morning teaching someone about accounting. It was more interesting than whatever this is.
  11. Which is different than "he lowballed Alonso because he knew he had the Contreras deal first." He may already had talks, but I don't believe they were advanced enough to say he knew he had a deal. If he did, he should have pounced on it because Contreras is cheaper and better. It would have been malfeasance to sign Alonso and forgo the Contreras deal if he thought he had one.
  12. If the Cards wanted too much and Breslow balked at the price, he didn't have the deal in hand then.
  13. Not possible until the offseason. Can't trade draft picks!
  14. On Montgomery not playing after being drafted: Fractured his ankle on a slide into home plate in June during the NCAA Super Regionals, ending his junior season.
  15. I'm just saying that I don't believe they had the Contreras deal already in hand prior to the Alonso negotiations falling apart. I've said all along that Contreras was a better player than Alonso.
  16. Alonso meets with Red Sox on 12/8 Alonso signed with the O's on 12/11 Contreras traded to the Sox on 12/21 Timeline doesn't match up to me?
