  1. The contract size doesn't matter. He hasn't been a great hitter since 2020. He hasn't earned anything from Sox fans as he hasn't been all that good since coming here. He's been an oft injured, below average hitter (95 OPS+).
  2. Henry wants to eat as little of these contracts as possible. I think he can eat one year at a time. I don't think he'll eat two years. There's a chance these guys can be moved this deadline if the Sox are out of it or in the offseason with significant $$$ being taken on by the Sox. The cap resets with a new CBA so I there shouldn't be any concerns there.
  3. Pedigree only last so long as a player ages. With Story, he's just getting old. His defense has been PUTRID for the past 60 games. It's not going to get better. Good defense doesn't go into slumps like this. You could ignore a few bad throws, but his range has been terrible. Story is toast. Just use fielding percentage if you want. It's been terrible!
  4. When he made that comment, both he and Kiké laughed about it. I don't think he was that serious. Cora was given an imperfect lineup and had to play Kiké out of position. The MIF has typically been a problem since Xander left. Chaim still had over a week after the Xander debacle to swoop in and sign Dansby Swanson to play SS, but didn't do so.
  5. CIN has a horrible OF. His bat could play really well there. There was talk about PHI too.
  6. Sox are 2-3 in their last 5 Patriots Day games. Feels about right.
  7. At least the ChiSox get to watch Murakami.
  8. I think the Sox weren't going to be able to completely plug all the holes in one offseason. It would have been nice if they could have actually treaded water though. Yes, it's still early. Yes, the roster construction is still not where I would have left it. Should have traded Duran for prospects.
  9. Maybe the only way to fix this franchise is to truly bottom out.
  10. They would have had to include Mayer in a trade to get that big bat. They didn't want to. 🫠 Still would have left a platoon at another position or a need for a Durbin-like trade.
  11. I would rank it as how many guys were the Sox seriously interested in prior to going to Brez, but I don't really care either way. I will just say that if they don't give Breslow a long tenure, they are really screwed with the next CBO search.
  12. And you can have great stuff a year after having elbow soreness, throw 102 and be shutdown for elbow soreness for 2 weeks the following start. Sometimes just having guys that can go and give you above average stuff across the board (Early) is better than the eye popping highlights.
  13. "Two big bats." It would have been Contreras and Bregman, right?
  14. I got to see one cup in my lifetime. I'm not expecting another as long as Jacobs owns the team (probably much longer than that).
  15. The worst part about this season is that my son now thinks the BRUINS are better than the Red Sox. WTH?
  16. Even if Breggie isn't hitting well right now, we heard that he worked well mentoring the younger guys. Seems that they are missing that right now.
  17. With Bennett, he's been inducing a lot of weak contact. Per savant, he's dumped his mediocre slider for a sinker.
  18. Yeah, you need to watch more than one inning of a prospect to see what they're about.
  19. Should get the callup at some point soon. Has had 50 great innings in AA. With Sandoval not healing up, there should be room in WOO's rotation.
