  1. I don't think rival executives will be fooled by his current OPS.
  2. Trading legit prospects, which is what SF would want, for guys that were just FA's is a ridiculous way to do business. You could have had them a few offseasons ago if you wanted them! Why now? Because you're desperate? It'd be one of the dumbest decisions the Sox could ever do.
  3. If he was only here for two more years? Sure. Not through 2031! 😬
  4. 1. Agreed. There is no Tayron Guerrero in MLB. It's Tyron Guerrero. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/gl.fcgi?id=guerrta01&t=p&year=2026 2. 3.62 FIP
  5. If we want guys that hit 750+, it shouldn't be Adames since he's only hit 747 since the beginning of 2022.
  6. You can only play so many 1b, LF and RFers.
  7. Alonso's contract ends before Adames's. Marte is a better player than Adames. Bregman is a better clubhouse guy than anyone else listed. I'm not making a case for Eugenio.
  8. I don't think that's the premise of the article. The org pushes exit velo and lifting the ball. If you look down on the farm, they are pushing guys to increase exit velo year over year. GRE is towards the top of their league in HR. Arias has a career high in HR and it's only May. The problem is that the BOSTON Red Sox were drawn up horribly. Adding Caleb Durbin was a huge mistake. Keeping Yoshida around doesn't make sense. Roman Anthony has had a tremendously high GB% his whole pro career. You can't rely on him to bring thump to a lineup. Marcelo was promoted too early and is now learning on the job. Having half of your lineup be punch and judy hitters (even more when you are relying on called up AAA hitters and Duran is slumping) is why the Sox got to where they are. Sox need to blow it up. DFA/Trade Story and Masa. Trade Duran for parts. Send Durbin to AAA so that he can play every day. There are calls to trade Contreras, but I think he's doing a good job mentoring Rafaela (career high 117 wRC+) and Abreu. The Sox need to keep some veteran leadership around.
  9. And TBH, I don't think buying a FA means you have to extract every $ out of the contract for it to be worthwhile. You have to overpay to make your team better. The last two seasons are probably just written off anyway. If Story wasn't a mess of injuries, we probably look at his contract differently.
  10. It shows how mediocre the Sox are and that they aren't really in it. If they are the 10th best team in the AL, who freakin' cares? That stinks! Change the channel. Go for a walk. Read a book.
  11. Sox are at 22-30. If they go 2-6 over their next 8 games (3 ATL, 3 CLE, 2 BAL), they'll match the 2020 Sox record.
  12. We already hate Trevor Story. Why add Adames and Chapman? Bobby Witt Sr? I think he retired some time ago. You can't be thinking the Sox would actually get Jr. Turang plays for the Brewers, a team that is constantly in playoff contention. He's going nowhere. Edwards doesn't hit the ball hard and is a switch hitter. Brez would have no interest in him.
  13. Caleb Durbin: 598 OPS April 384 OPS May The bench is that way...
  14. I feel the same now as I did on Friday. I also don't feel very strongly about the third WC spot being all that meaningful. If the Sox have 6 teams ahead of them in the WC race and there are now 3 WC spots, it's pretty pathetic IMO. That's how many there were on Friday AM!
  15. All the IL stints were typical? He only had 43 G at AAA. For a guy only OPSing 818, I would have liked to see him go a bit longer.
  16. Per FanGraphs, he wasn't quite worth it (135M value), but I think the Cubbies take that contract every time since it helped win the WS.
  17. Cool. Do you think Mookie cares about the CBT or his cash? Mookie Betts signed a 12 year, $365,000,000 contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers, including $65,000,000 signing bonus, $365,000,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $30,416,667.
  18. I'm saying that I've seen and heard it all over over the place, not just on here. Adding Adames to it only compounds the problem. Who cares if they cover the full cost of Masa and Story for another 18 months. Adames and Chapman are signed into the 2030's! Not sure how trading for underperforming, aging, overpaid players is going to help the Boston Red Sox.
  19. His contract is only 13M. That's not the holdup over a certain tier of prospect IMO.
