    JH not spending WAS OUR ISSUE. Did you enjoy '22, '23 and '24? Wouldn't last year have been nicer if the team was more complete and didn't get smoked in Games 2 and 3 in Yankee Stadium 3?

    I think knowing which players to go out and set the market price on is a good skill. Know who is worth it to overextend for and who you can reasonably pass on. Bregman may be a bigger need in 2026, but maybe Suarez will be the better player in 2028-30? If you think about DD in PHI, he's done a good job of not paying the wrong players (aside from Castellanos). The Mets have two big contracts that worked and a whole bunch of crap that didn't work out, so they missed the playoffs.

    He's not worth 60M a year. He was worth 40M in his best year. Stupid big overpay. His HR numbers should go up in LA though.

    I'm not sure I can compare Breslow to Dombrowski. Dombrowski made a lot of trades, but he would really make a bunch of trades at the expense of the farm. He also had more free reign to go out and acquire a top FA if he wanted. I think Breslow is trying to do he best to compete while maintaining the farm. Dombrowski extended some older guys (Xander too), but Breslow extended lots of younger ones. I think the franchises were just in a similar spot when each CBO took over. Lots of young high end talent ready to replace mediocre talent clogging the MLB roster. Dombrowski made some keen acquisitions to get this team over the hump. We'll see how far Breslow can take them. I'm not sure what this team would look like if Bloom was still here TBH.

    I think the problem comes down to a few too many recent seasons of them saying they are going for it or going to be playoff contenders or full throttle or what have you and then really just halfassing it. I think that's why the fanbase has a right to be critical of JH at the moment. Were at the point now where it's show me, don't tell me. We've heard that there are internal spending limits that have been set. The positional side of things is still unfinished right now, so we'll have to see where they go from here.
