I think the hitting will come around. These guys won't be hitting under 600 OPS the remainder of the year. Fixing the defense now makes sense though.

The last two seasons that started off 8-14 or worse: 2020 and 1996. They started the 96 season 2-12 and ended April 7-19. Still won 85 games that year. BOS OFers had a -0.9 fWAR that year. RP's had a 0.0 fWAR.

WAS a catcher. He's aged into being a 1b and he's pretty great at it.

You know what is an estimate? Whether something is ruled a hit or an error by the scorekeeper. How often are these rulings overturned an inning or two later after a player appeals? C'mon. Modern metrics have much more value than a scorekeeper determining if Jarren Duran letting a ball drop next to him should be an error or not.

It depends on the year. Some years, the T in BOSTON gets weird with the piping. Some people really like the variations of the 1975 uni.

Well, yeah, he's been the CBO for long enough that we can't really blame anyone else at this point. I know Story and Masa are still on this team, but there are ways to either move those salaries or just fitting them onto the roster more appropriately. It was Breslow that decided to go with a pitching and defense first squad. It hasn't worked out so far. If this season is a stinker, it lies squarely on him.

That's a club option in '30. They can be done with him in '29. There are escalators in the contract for ASG appearances and CY votes (only affects '29 and '30).

HOU is currently 3rd in OF fWAR. They still need help though. Maybe they'd deal for Duran with prospects?
